Department:PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:South Area Parks Operations (50000053)

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$1,693.02 to $1,862.32 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/West Melbourne/Erna Nixon Nature Center. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.Performs skilled professional work developing, planning, organizing, and supervising comprehensive outdoor education programs and presentations. Work involves maintaining nature areas, including identifying plants and wildlife common to the area; providing nature camps throughout the year, including field trips for school-aged children; conducting nature tours for all ages; and conducting programs to enhance public utilization, protections, and appreciation of the natural resources of the area. Supervision is provided to assigned recreational paid and volunteer staff.

REQUIREMENTS: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in recreation planning, development, administration, or programs, which includes one (1) year in a supervisory capacity;ORone (1) year as a Brevard County Recreation Supervisor I, Community Center Coordinator, or Recreation Program Coordinator. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration for the position if a Level I background criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5 (AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (as defined in AO-5).In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
