Department:PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Building Code Compliance (50000061)

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$2,027.20 to $2,229.92 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. [$63,977.92 annual salary will be offered to candidates holding Standard Certification as a 1 & 2 Family Dwelling Inspector and $60,477.20 annual salary will be offered to candidates holding Standard Certification as a Building Inspector, with up to an additional $2,500 to $7,000 annual incentive for additional standard certifications held, dependent upon operational needs.] Government Center/Viera/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday throughFriday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Performs skilled technical work conducting inspections of building construction, erection, repair, additions, or alterations that require permitting as provided by state law or municipal or county ordinance for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to building construction.

REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a minimum of one (1) valid active State of Florida Standard Certification as a 1 and 2 Family DwellingORBuilding Inspector issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB), in accordance with the provisions set forth in Florida Statute Chapter 468 and maintain said certification(s) in an active status during the term of employment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights above ten (10) feet. Must be capable at all times of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
