The Controller plays a crucial role at Breckenridge by overseeing the financial operations, reporting, and compliance of the organization. Success in this role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles and regulations, and a proven track record of leading financial functions within the pharmaceutical industry or a similar regulated environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Analyze financial performance, variances, and key metrics.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports for management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.

General Accounting:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

Tax and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Manage tax compliance, including timely and accurate preparation of tax returns and filings.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with tax laws.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.

Financial Systems and Process Improvement:

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and ERP platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Streamline financial processes to improve effectiveness and reduce costs.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, including setting goals, providing coaching and mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Develop talent and succession plans to support the organization's long-term objectives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • MBA or Masters degree in Finance or related field.
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (GAAP, IFRS).
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a similar regulated environment is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in accounting, financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in using financial management systems and ERP platforms.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
