JOB
Program Coordinator of Youth Enrichment, develops, implements, and coordinates youth enrichment programs including but not limited to camps, after school programming, and teen programs for three- to seventeen-year-old youth; creates and maintains departmental reports; organizes staff training related to youth enrichment programs. This individual will work with the human resources department to create strategies to successfully recruit and retain youth enrichment staff for the entire recreation department; work with the communications department to effectively promote all youth enrichment programs; work with partner organizations to create new and diverse programs and interact frequently with the general public.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited 4 year college or universityPreferred: Master's degree from an accredited college or universityArea of Study (major) Required: Recreation Management and Programming, Child Development, or related fieldPreferred: Recreation Management and Programming, or Child DevelopmentCertification(s) Required: First Aid & CPR/AED instructor certification within 6months of hirePreferred: Professional membership with LRPA, ACA and NRPA. Attain Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license Years Relevant Work Experience: Minimum 3 years supervisory and recreationprogramming experience. Equivalent combination ofeducation and experience will be considered.Preferred: 5 or more years related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Knowledge of municipal recreation management principles and procedures.• Knowledge of and skill in the use of various software applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, RecTrac, MainTrac, and data management software• Strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.• Camp and youth program management skills and experience• Good problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively and independently; demonstrate sound judgment• Public relations skills, public speaking, and presentation abilities• Ability to plan, utilize program development processes, implement, and administer various types of evaluation tools for youth programs• Ability to analyze and interpret data to arrive at effective conclusions• Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously• Ability to develop and maintain a budget, complete reports such as financial, payroll, and activity reports according to established BREC financial procedures• Ability to quickly learn BREC policies and procedures• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the public, as well as to relate to others in a positive manner• Effectively communicate program design, goals, and mission to school officials, community partners, and parents.• Ability to supervise and work in a team environment• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, staff, volunteers, patrons, BREC officials, community interest groups, and the general public.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Hours may vary according to special events, frequent weekend and evening work. Normal hours consist of 8 hours per day 5 days a week, one hour lunch break.
