Manager of Governance and Compliance (Spring 2024)

The CMO network manages core administrative responsibilities, including human resources, finance, information technology, facilities, student recruitment, and marketing for our schools. We serve 3,000 K-8 grade scholars across ten schools and employ over 450 staff members.
OPPORTUNITY
Breakthrough Public Schools seeks a versatile and detail-oriented professional to serve as the Manager of Governance and Compliance.
The Manager of Governance and Compliance will be responsible for building systems and structures to ensure compliance with network, local, state, and Federal regulations. Reporting to the Director of Network Operations, the Manager of Governance and Compliance will be an integral part of the Network Operations team and
The Manager will be integral to the Operations team’s ability to minimize risk and/or liability, increase efficiency/eliminate redundancy; increase organizational sustainability; and provide specialized knowledge in certain areas.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Board Governance
Develop, monitor, and evaluate board governance processes and protocols
Track, monitor, and communicate compliance with school governance requirements
Create tools, guidance, and protocols to support effective school governance practices
Manage the board consent agenda and ensure alignment with Board on Track platform
Post agenda items and supporting documents to Board on Track
Complete post-meeting follow-up (obtaining signatures, satisfying sponsor compliance, archiving documents, etc.)
Maintain a repository of board contact information, including Director term dates and committee appointments
Manage the annual process for assigning and ensuring the completion of required board training and materials
General Compliance
Create and maintain a network compliance calendar and engage with stakeholders on essential requirements and deadlines
Serve as the primary internal point of contact for network sponsor compliance
Prepare necessary documentation and ensure all sponsor deadlines are met
Collaborate with Directors of Operations for school sponsor compliance
Manage inventory of legal policies and track all version status
Review and gain an understanding of all legal policies and appendices and articulate stakeholder implications
Liaise with legal counsel as needed on board policy updates; prepare a summary of changes for presentation/vote as needed
Implement a system for assigning and tracking employee participation and completion of applicable training programs
Lead the beginning and end of year ODEW (Ohio Department of Education and Workforce) compliance processes
