The Breakthrough Behavior Model

How You Will Improve Lives

Under the direction of a Regional Director, the Clinical Director serves as the leader of their respective location, overseeing and leading clinical and administrative operations of their assigned unit to support Breakthrough Behavior’s mission to provide meaningful outcomes to individuals with developmental disabilities with a focus on excellence, compassion, innovation, and accountability.

Clinical Directors are responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of their assigned unit to include but not limited to, unit economics, unit operations to include facilities management and efficiently utilizing clinic space to ensure minimum waitlist times for potential new patients, client outcomes and satisfaction, oversight and support to all staff, staff satisfaction and retention, and overall culture within each unit.

How You Will Fit This Role

(includes, but not limited to the following):

  • Oversees clinical and operational staff within their assigned unit
  • Communicates and implements Breakthrough Behavior’s vision, mission, policies and procedures, and overall direction enthusiastically within their unit
  • As designated by the Regional Director, communicates and trains unit-level staff on new or changed clinical and operational policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Executes short and long term operational and clinical goals as determined in collaboration with the Regional Director
  • Ensures the unit’s KPI dashboard and clinical outcome metrics are accurate, complete, updated weekly, and provides a weekly analysis of variances in operational and clinical metrics to the Regional Director based on analysis of KPI and clinical outcome metrics
  • Ensures analysts and RBTs meet the productivity requirements budgeted for the respective positions to include making sure analysts are meeting their minimum clinical excellence requirements
  • Oversees unit level budget and ensures accurate and timely completion of unit expense reports according to Breakthrough Behavior guidelines
  • Manage and maintains organization and cleanliness of the unit supplies and facility to Breakthrough Behavior standards to include ensuring that the unit has needed clinical and operational supplies
  • Assists in identifying operational and clinical training needs for their unit and communicates needs to the Regional Director in a timely manner. Leads and coordinates training for their unit
  • Implements staff reinforcement and accountability systems to improve outcomes towards organizational goals per Breakthrough Behavior Policy and Procedures and guidelines
  • In collaboration with the Regional Director and Employee Experience & Success, assists with determining the course of action for employees that have performance issues (e.g. writing PIPs, Smart Goals, etc.)
  • Leads coordination with Employee Experience & Success to ensure staffing needs are met in a timely manner, conducts employment interviews as requested, recommends candidates for hire, and leads and participates in new employee onboarding and training for their unit
  • Provides marketing support and outreach campaigns for their unit to assist with meeting minimum monthly growth requirements when needed
  • Under the direction of the compliance team and the Regional Director assist with clinical audits requested by funding sources
  • Effectively collaborates with all team members, caregivers, community agencies, schools, and therapy providers as appropriate to include timely responding to concerns presented by families and staff to ensure rapid resolution, preferably in person or via the phone, to include notifying the Regional Director any major concerns voiced by staff or clients
  • Monitor and manage all clinical staff to ensure all clinical guidelines, including deadlines, are implemented, and adhered to include taking responsibility for effective delivery of behavior analytic services to all clients within the unit
  • Leads and participates in training, mentorship, and supervision to clinical employees including new hires, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Analysts-in-Training (AITs), and Clinical Supervisors to promote excellence in clinical performance and address any issues of poor performance
  • Ensure analysts are providing appropriate supervision and documentation of supervision of RBTs and students in ABA programs
  • Provide oversight, monitoring, and timely and effective feedback to analysts regarding ABA assessments, reassessments, and treatment programs to ensure high quality, effective, and ethical practices, including ensuring dosage of services recommended are medically necessary
  • Helps with supervision and assessments within their unit when additional support or backup is needed due to staff shortages or building caseload for new analysts
  • Actively participates in all meetings as required by the company, including weekly clinic management meetings, 1:1 case conceptualization meetings, and unit level meetings
  • Provides time on the floor each week, depending on the specific needs of the unit, modeling ABA techniques and/or best practices (DTT, managing challenging behaviors, effective data collection, etc.)
  • Facilitates and assists in the development and yearly update of a document that lists resources and support information for clients and their families
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong commitment and passion for working with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and varying disabilities
  • Understand and demonstrate expertise in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Proficient in conducting Functional Analyses and Functional Assessments and common ABA assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, etc.).
  • Proficient in writing and adjusting skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skills, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations
  • Experience working with children of various ages with a wide range of needs, in various settings
  • Resilient, motivated, and highly organized with effective time/project management skills; able to self-direct time, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and ability to embrace change and seek feedback with a growth mindset
  • Ability to identify and analyze critical issues and activities and draw conclusions and formulate recommended solutions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to collaborate with a variety of internal and external contacts in a positive manner
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to resolve conflicts and hold others accountable
  • Understanding of the business and industry; with a desire to gain knowledge of emerging trends and industry practices
  • Ability and desire to effectively network and market services

Requirements

Basic & Physical Requirements

  • Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with an active certification with the BACB and be in good standing with a minimum of 5 years experience working with children with disabilities
  • At least 2 years experience training, managing and supervising a team of up to 20 people
  • Must maintain credentialing in compliance with the BACB
  • Must complete Continuing Education (CE) Courses, as outlined by the BACB
  • Must complete supervision courses, as outlined by the BACB
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
  • Assist with lifting, holding, or positioning clients (including physical, behavioral, learning, etc.)
  • Sitting or stooping on the floor for extended periods
  • Standing or bending over repeatedly throughout the day
