Description

Position Overview:

The role of the Sanitation Professional is a key position at Bread Alone. The work of the Sanitation Department is what allows everyone at Bread Alone to be able to come to work in a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The Sanitation Team primarily focuses on both creating the groundwork for Personal and Food Safety for the entire facility including our attached cafe. This role requires a focus on detail, the ability to complete repetitive tasks over a long period of time and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Cleaners perform a range of duties to keep the facility clean, such as mopping, sweeping, dish washing, trash removal, and general upkeep. You will also be responsible for performing routine check-ins to check that spaces like restrooms are always sanitary. The Cleaning Professional focuses on completing all assigned tasks, while maintaining all mandatory safety and sanitation standards throughout the building and grounds. This position is in our newly renovated and re-imagined Boiceville facility. We are looking to fill out our strong team with skilled and passionate team members. Hours: This is a full-time role and working Sunday and Monday are required. Additionally, shifts for this position will be a combination of 9am-5:30pm and 2pm-10:30pm. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work-life balance.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keep focus on Bread Alone’s core mission to consistently deliver high quality organic baked goods to the Hudson Valley and surrounding regions
  • Embody the Bread Alone culture by centering teamwork, empathy, and resilience
  • Perform duties safely and efficiently and in accordance with Bread Alone policy
  • Have a full knowledge of all guidelines for safe and efficient operation of the stations you work according to standards set by supervisors, managers, and training materials
  • Take ownership of your work and follow supervisor and manager instructions to ensure you and your team complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Engage in your work with an understanding of its contribution and impact on the success of the whole operation.
  • Actively and urgently communicate any issues or observed variation with product or equipment on your station to the station supervisor
  • Follow all applicable Bread Alone safety, GMP, culture, and food safety standards 
  • Take care to maintain proper, safe equipment operation as set out in training materials and by supervisors and managers
  • Notify supervisor if calibration, routine maintenance, or troubleshooting of any machinery is necessary
  • Complete delegated tasks at assigned station
  • Be an active participant in your professional development by communicating effectively with your manager around areas of growth that you feel enthusiastic about
  • Listen and communicate effectively with team members, provide feedback to supervisor on any issues and seek support when necessary
  • Report to the supervisor any issues that arise in the course of your work

Job Requirements:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
  • Able to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
  • Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold
  • Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level
  • Able to carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds in a safe and controlled manner
  • Able to work with, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner according to Bread Alone guidelines
  • Willing to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices which includes but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from makeup at work (ie. mascara or heavy foundation, lipstick)
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Able and willing to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy
  • Able to gain proficiency in operating and instructing on the proper use of all systems(physical and technological) in use in your department
  • Willing to follow all safety guidelines set out by Bread Alone
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety by strictly enforcing all safety rules and regulations and taking steps to mitigate any unsafe conditions or practices enlisting the help of others as needed
  • The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation Details: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay for this position is $17.50 to $28 per hour.

  • Paid Time Off: We respect work-life balance. 8 hours of PTO is accrued every 3 months. Within the first 3 years of employment: Accrue 32 hours at year one, 64 hours at year two, 96 hours at year three!
  • Wellness Time: During the first year of employment wellness time for hourly employees is accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked totaling a yearly amount of 56 hours. Unused time is paid out on the employees one year anniversary
