As a Field Inspector, you will assist project managers and partners with limited supervision in completing residential and commercial building inspections for a variety of clients. You will support the team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice.
Job Title: Field Inspector
Location: Remote (Memphis Based)
Regional Travel: Regional and out of State Inspections required on a project basis.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and perform site inspections for HERS, Energy Star, code compliance, 45L Energy Efficient Home Credit, Cost Segregation studies, 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deductions, as well as other specialty incentives as needed.
Perform blower door and duct leakage testing.
IECC Code Compliance testing and infrared scans.
Requires ladder climbing and entering small spaces like attics, crawlspaces, and basements.
Relationship management and interaction with construction superintendents, internal employees, and external clients.
Training builders, Construction Managers, Supers and trades on building science, Energy Star and IECC Code Compliance procedures.
Investigate, diagnose, and troubleshoot failure issues and report to builder possible solutions.
Prepare detailed site inspection reports and narratives
Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review
Maintain daily driver mileage log.
Good maintenance of company provided testing equipment.
Project Management
Communicate and interact directly with clients, CPAs, administrative staff, partners, and CEO about project status, etc.
Coordinate the delivery of project results with client and accounting staff to ensure proper billing.
Daily travel to multiple local jobsites with frequent travel to out-of-town jobsites depending on job/project. (Up to 80% work time traveling regionally, with occasional out of state travel)
Skills & Qualifications
2 years of residential or commercial construction experience required
HERS Rater or RFI (Rater Field Inspector) certification.
Strong understanding of building science, energy efficiency, construction management, and building performance required
Preferred Licenses & Certifications: RESNET Rating Field Inspector (RFI), HERs Rater, Energy Star, ICC Residential Combination Inspector, BPI Inspector, HVAC Certification, HVACR Technician, Construction Management, Residential Building Inspection
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Construction Management, HVACR Engineering Technology, or related field a plus.
Previous experience with Energy Modeling (Especially REM/Rate and Ekotrope) a plus
Previous experience with Cost Segregation studies or construction estimating (preferably in mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing trades) a plus
Previous experience with CAD, Drafting, and/or BIM a plus
Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Time management and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a variety of tasks and projects
Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong documentation skills
Strong client interaction skills
Must have reliable transportation and secure work location
Self-starter with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
Experience with Salesforce or other CRM a plus
