Brandywine Counseling Community Services is Hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist Near Wilmington, DE

Brandywine Counseling is seeking an Engagement Specialist (Peer Position) for our IMPACT program!

We enhance the quality of life by creatively providing Education, Advocacy, Prevention, Early Intervention and Treatment Services. We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges.

Are you eager to assist a client through their Mental Health and Substance Use recovery process in an outpatient therapeutic setting? We are seeking a Peer to provide supportive person-centered services to individuals in a compassionate way. Please look at the highlights below:

What You'll Do at Brandywine Counseling:

  • Be responsible for a caseload of clients, as identified by program requirements and in accordance with state regulations.
  • Complete required evaluations and assessments.
  • Document all clinical services and interventions performed within the clients ‘electronic record.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintains contact with outside providers to coordinate care.
  • This position predominantly deals with our MAT clients, especially those at-risk for or who have Hepatitis C and HIV.
  • This position entails a lot of engagement with a population that may not want to attend the sessions.
  • This position will be trained to provide rapid testing for HIV.
  • Perform GPRA (Government Performance and Results Act) intake and discharge.
  • Confer with the Clinical Supervisor on a daily basis for casing.
  • Participates in weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of assessments
  • Considerable knowledge of population being served and available resources
  • Ability to evaluate and screen clients for appropriate treatment and document progress of clients
  • May require crisis intervention to emergency situations
  • Skill in establishing rapport with clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a focused team
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Computer skills/data entry

Qualifications for the position are:

  • REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED
  • REQUIRED: Must be over 18 years of age.
  • REQUIRED: At least 2 years in related field experience in substance abuse or mental health as a peer
  • REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with 2 points or less
    • May need to use your own vehicle if a BCCS car is not available.
  • REQUIRED: Must be a Peer.
    • BCCS employs a diverse workforce, and we especially encourage applications from those who are in recovery. This position requires that the candidate chosen for it is a peer. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs, alcohol, or mental health.
  • REQUIRED: Minimum of 2 year's in recovery
  • PREFERRED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
    • If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. or...
  • 5:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Pay:

  • Starting at $18/hour
  • Commensurate based on experience and education!
