Job Title : Purchasing Specialist

Location : 508 S. 14th Street Kansas City, KS 66105

Hours : 6 : 30am to 3 : 00pm (Hours may vary depending on business needs)

Bonus : 1 rotated Work from Home day provided

We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist who will be responsible for sourcing new suppliers, creating and submitting purchase orders and ensuring that the purchased products and materials meet specific technical specifications.

The Purchasing Specialist will also be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries and resolving any supply issues or discrepancies.

This position will be in person in our Kansas City, KS office.

Responsibilities

  • Create Purchase Orders, in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures, distribute to vendors and secure orders with our strategic and local suppliers : Safety Supplies, Office Supplies, Office Equipment, Yard & Warehouse Supplies, etc.
  • Research and identify prospective suppliers when requested
  • Maintain strong supplier relations and work as a liaison between Supply Chain and vendors
  • Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
  • Report on quality of purchased items and resolve quantity discrepancies / shortcomings, closing PO’s as needed
  • Analyze industry and demand trends as needed to support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
  • Prepare Ad hoc reports and procurement records to ensure purchasing records are accurate and provide requested data to management
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Assist with quotes for products and services that support our operations
  • Provide weekly or monthly updates to branches, and regional management, regarding past due PO’s and other purchasing issues
  • Assist the Asset Management department with Equipment Requests (ER) as needed.
  • Support finance department by assisting with billing of rental jobs and other billing (if needed)
  • Support payroll department by assisting with I-9 compliance and backup for timekeeping
  • Support safety department by processing / data entry of safety observations
  • Other duties as needed to support office functions

Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED required; an Associate's degree is preferred (Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a similar field)
  • 2 years of experience as a purchasing specialist or in a similar role; experience in the Construction industry is a plus
  • Must be competent in databases, Excel and Word. NexGen experience is desirable but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, detail oriented, and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with a strong desire to learn and grow.
