General RNA Certified Nursing Assistant Description

Responsible for assisting residents with exercises to improve activities of daily living inindividual and group restorative programs.Essential Duties1. Performs group restorative program exercises with residents daily and documentsparticipation.2. Assists residents with individualized restorative programs including, but notlimited to:AmbulationTransfersRange of MotionSplint/BracesBowel and BladderGrooming/Bathing/Dressing3. Tracks resident participation in restorative programs.4. Encourages residents to work towards restorative program goals and reportsprogress to supervisor as needed.5. Notifies supervisor of resident decline or improvement.6. Assists residents with individualized dining program and documents consumptionand participation.7. Performs essential functions of Certified Nursing Assistants as needed.Standard Requirements1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Facility.2. Is knowledgeable of resident rights and supports an atmosphere which allows forthe privacy, dignity and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.3. Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:OSHA and safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices,established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/orcorrect unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.4. Adheres to:a. Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operationsdata.b. HIPAA regulationsc. Quality Assurance requirements and compliance with regulatoryrequirements.d. Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environmentfree from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior.e. Code of Conduct and Compliance Program when performing workfunctions.5. Supports and participates in common teamwork:a. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete jobduties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriatejudgment.b. Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotionalsituations; addresses family satisfaction issues immediately and assists inresolving the matter in a professional manner.c. Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residentsregarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.d. Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members andguests.e. Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance,uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other workduties as assigned.f. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates apositive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude.6. Immediately reports incidents of alleged resident abuse or neglect or allegedviolations of residents' rights to Director of Nursing or Executive Director.7. Knowledgeable of age specific developmental factors specific to adult andgeriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive and socialization factors) in planningdelivery of care.8. Maintains current practice standards or changes by participating in educationalopportunities provided by the Facility and outside resources.

Other DutiesPerform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, butwhich may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. Performsother work duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation/Training: Current State Certified Nursing Assistant certification.A.D.A.A.A (Americans with Disabilities Act) As Amended) REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day.Requires manual dexterity sufficient to provide hands-on care to residents as well as tooperate standard office machines such as fax, telephone, etc. Requires normal range ofhearing and vision. Must be free from communicable disease. Must be able to lift aminimum of 50 pounds, and transfer and transport residents. Must be able to carry andtransport supplies. Must be able to pass a physical examination and annually thereafter,providing medical clearance for employment. Must be capable of performing theessential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficientinterpersonal relations and communicative skills; knowledge of drug interactions, sideeffects, and incompatibilities; decision-making skill; proficient assessment skills; safetytechniques; basic computer skills; able to operate various medical and office equipment;auditory and visual skills. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and inwriting, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

Experience: Previous work experience in a long term care setting preferred.
