BIA-MO Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator Position Overview

The Brain injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO) is a statewide non-profit organization providing support, education, recreation and legislative advocacy to serve survivors of brain injury, families, friends, professionals, and communities.

The BIA-MO Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator initiates, creates, implements, and manages production and details for organization outreach formats, messaging, images, timeline, and evaluation based on established procedures and in cooperation with executive, administrative, and program staff.

The intent of this high-production, results-focused professional position is to increase participation and support for BIA-MO services and the organization.

Position Responsibilities

Update Website Content and Pages

  • Initiate and manage weekly website updates by coordinating and making revisions from the Office Administrator, Program Associate, Executive Director and yourself. Content revisions based on program and event outreach, recognition and follow-up messages as well as program and event timelines.
  • Maintain current information on BIA-MO website by reviewing each page (weekly), researching data sources on website pages (odd months), and testing resource links (even months).
  • Manage Corporate and Professional Members logos and listing on BIA-MO website with daily updates, in cooperation with Office Administrator and Executive Director.
  • Create, update and manage Bowling for Brain Injury event and team fundraising webpages.
  • Create new webpages for BIA-MO programs and events, as approved by Executive Director.
  • Update resources linked on our Services page, based on our Community Resource Services, and in cooperation with the Program Associate and Executive Director.
  • Update website with quick turn-around for legislative advocacy, fundraising and programs as directed by Executive Director.

Develop and Manage Email Outreach for Programs and Events

  • Create, distribute and manage email outreach for all BIA-MO programs and events. Email content based on approved messaging, standards and timeline, with quick-response updates as needed.
  • Create promotional emails to highlight partner programs in cooperation with Executive Director.
  • Develop and maintain Support Group Facilitator e-newsletter in cooperation with Program Associate and Executive Director for content and timing.
  • Develop and maintain Membership Matters e-newsletter in cooperation with Executive Director and Office Administrator.
  • Manage electronic distribution of quarterly The Challenge from the Brain Injury Association of America to Survivor Members.
  • Create quick-notice emails, as directed by Executive Director, to coincide with Outreach Schedule.

Create Outreach Material

  • Produce outreach material in print, electronic and video formats for support, education and recreation programs as well as fundraising, advocacy and public relation activities using InDesign, Publisher, Word, email marketing and other software available.
  • Design BIA-MO Connections newsletter produced about three times per year.
  • Manage BIA-MO newsletter articles, pictures and filler based on upcoming programs and events, in cooperation with Executive Director.
  • Initiate and draft BIA-MO submission for the Brain Injury Association of America The Challenge magazine sent quarterly.

Develop and Manage Social Media Outreach

  • Create, post and manage social media postings for BIA-MO on-going programs of Support Groups, Survivor and Family Seminars, Annual Statewide Conference, Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness Camp, Networking Coffees for Professionals, Sports Concussion Seminars, Survivor and Family Online Education, Advocacy, Annual Awards, and Educational Scholarships as well as fundraising of Bowling for Brain Injury, Annual Appeal, Giving Tuesday, Give STL Day, Membership Campaign, Third-Party Benefits, and more. Postings based on approved messaging, standards and timeline.
  • Create social media postings to highlight partner programs in cooperation with Executive Director.
  • Monitor social media responses for recommendations of “boosting” and/or sharing BIA-MO and partner postings, based on the Outreach Schedule for strategic messaging and outreach.
  • Respond and research social media inquiries to enhance awareness and connections with BIA-MO.

Implement Brain Injury Fact of the Day Community Education Program

  • Research and Update Brain Injury Fact of the Date information and data each year for campaign implementation in March.
  • Update Brain Injury Fact of the Day social media postings based on assigned March dates, messaging, statistics and supporting information.
  • Refresh the Brain Injury Fact of the Day information daily on the BIA-MO website with the daily messaging and supporting information.
  • Manage email distribution of Brain Injury Fact of the Day to media personnel and BIA-MO Stakeholders.
  • Compile data to evaluate Brain Injury Fact of the Day engagement and effectiveness.

Develop and Manage Outreach Calendar

  • Manage organization Outreach Calendar to coordinate timeline and focus of messages for programs and events in cooperation with Executive Director, Office Administrator and Program Associate.
  • Initiate and implement Social Media, Email Outreach and Website Posts calendar to ensure strategic messaging.

BIA-MO Program and Organization Support

  • Publicly support BIA-MO legislative priorities to educate elected officials about the prevention of brain injury, access to services and independent living opportunities for persons with brain injury.
  • Encourage participation in upcoming BIA-MO programs and events with survivors of brain injury, family members, professionals, and community members to “connect the dots” for them to fully benefit from BIA-MO services of support, education, recreation and advocacy.
  • Encourage financial support for BIA-MO programs from volunteers, support group members, survivors of brain injury and families, BIA-MO Members, professionals and potential supporters.

Provide Community Resource Services to survivors of brain injury, families, and healthcare professionals, as back-up to other staff.

  • Provide information via telephone, email and in-person utilizing the Resource Binder maintained by the Program Associate.

Other duties as assigned by Executive Director

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree (Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Public Health, Education or similar major) or high school diploma with extensive marketing work experience.

Experience working in office environment.

Extensive computer experience needed: Wordpress or other website software, Constant Contact or other email marketing software, and Publisher, InDesign or other graphic design software. Excel and PowerPoint helpful.

Personal qualities: highly organized, results-focused, detail oriented, self-starter, excellent written and oral communication skills, good problem-solver, excellent proofreader, able to multi-task, team player, can work independently, and reliable.

Survivors of brain injury are a high risk health-population. To reduce the risk of COVID transmission to survivors and their families, BIA-MO staff must be fully vaccinated from COVID.

Ability to lift up to 40lbs.

The Graphic Design and Digital Marketer will work in the Brain Injury Association of Missouri office located in St. Louis County, zip code 63146, with easy access to highways. This is not a remote or contract position.

Salary and Benefits

$30,000 - $42,000 annual salary.

Two weeks paid time off, after one year of service.

Standard Hours: M - F 8:15 am – 4:30 pm, and working at BIA-MO events and programs as needed.

Health benefit premium allowance of up to $100 per month paid directly to insurance payer.
