SUMMARY: The Controls Field Team Leader will monitor and enhance field performance of Controls Project Technicians while working with the controls project managers and controls engineers to ensure quality, on time, and on budget execution of controls projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Function as a dependable resource for controls project managers when critical issues reach escalation point and provide rapid and effective resolution.
  • Interface with controls project engineers, project managers, technician team leaders, technicians, interns, sales and estimating to ensure all controls project obligations are met.
  • Provide constructive feedback to project managers about sub-contracting resources.
  • Regularly assess managed personnel for skills improvement and provide constructive feedback and training goals for knowledge gains.
  • Actively work to ensure the highest technician and intern performance on projects.
  • Perform annual reviews of assigned technician team leaders, technicians, and interns.
  • Assist controls project managers in staffing process of technician team leaders, technicians, and interns for controls projects; ability to assign the required skill set based on project requirements.
  • Responsible for the professional development of Brady’s Building Automation Systems Department (BASD) technician force.
  • Provide quality control on all BASD projects.
  • Implement programming standards for BASD programmable controllers and human interface consoles.
  • Facilitate the training of all new BASD employees in Tracer Synchrony, Ensemble, Tridium Niagara Framework and TGP2 programming of associated unit controllers.
  • Provide mechanical systems technical support for assigned personnel.
  • Coordinate hands-on, controller checkout, programming, and HVAC system training for controls project technicians and interns.
  • Provide career training / learning path for assigned personnel.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that quality and client satisfaction are maintained.
  • Maintain and foster a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism among the Controls field team.
  • Work with project managers to provide the most efficient use of field resources.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled team meetings with Field Team.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.

  • Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Immediately address any customer’s concern and requests the involvement of other Company personnel as required.

SAFETY:

  • Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your Team Leader
  • Notify Team Leader or Safety Manager of any unsafe conditions.
  • Proper PPE equipment must be always used when necessary.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader and HR immediately.
  • All monthly training topics on safety completed and done during the month due

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages and leads Controls Technicians: oversees training and performance management; provides mentoring, coaching, disciplinary action and/or performance improvement plans when necessary; develops and manages Individual Development Plans.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Sevenyears of technical experience in the HVAC/BAS industry with at least 2 years of proven leadership/management experience.

Knowledge and understanding of various communications protocols used in the industry including BACnet, LonTalk and Modbus; familiarity with networking applications, Ethernet, TCP-IP, IP Networks, and infrastructure. Working experience with Trane and Tridium is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office, Adobe

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
