Bradley Arant Boult Cummings is Hiring an Intellectual Property Docketing Coordinator Near Huntsville, AL

Position Summary:

Under supervision of Director of eDiscovery and Paralegal Services, the IP Docketing Coordinator will work as part of a team to review incoming/outgoing US Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”) and foreign communications, calendar deadlines, and enter applicable information into the docket system. The IP Docketing Coordinator will build custom reports for client teams as well as assist with incoming and outgoing case transfers. They may also assist with preparation and filing of some of the more common USPTO documents. The successful candidate will have an interest in trademark and patent prosecution, client service, and database management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze US and foreign IP prosecution correspondence, identify applicable information, and enter into docket system.
  • Calendar due dates.
  • Proactively monitor due dates to ensure all deadlines are timely met.
  • Advise attorneys and legal staff on issues related to maintaining and clearing docket, and ensuring deadlines are timely met.
  • Prepare reports for attorneys and clients.
  • Process case transfers.
  • Monitor and maintain integrity of data in docket system.
  • Stay informed of US and foreign PTO rules and procedures.
  • Prepare and file basic USPTO documents.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 3 years IP docketing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of multi-office team.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IP docket software and CPI; excellent technical skills.
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to changing workflows and/or procedures.
  • Comfortable proactively communicating with attorneys and paralegals about upcoming deadlines to ensure timely completion.
