Position Overview:
The Training Coordinator will manage Bradken Tacoma’s technical training and assessment function. The role will work with line leaders to develop training and assessment methodologies. The role will assist with delivering pre-developed training materials to support operational readiness and ensures alignment and compliance with relevant operational, safety and legislative requirements. The role will also deliver hands on welding/skill upgrade training for internal welders, Fabrication Welder Apprenticeship Program, grinders and arcers.
Pay Range: $25.00 - $35.00 (Depending on experience)
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Partner with site management to effectively assess needs, design learning solutions aligned with business goals and strategies.
  • Implement Tacoma’s Training Framework in alignment with Bradken’s global training frameworks, with a focus on operational readiness and alignment to relevant operational, safety and legislative requirements
  • Support business leaders to identify skills gaps and develop programs to address skill gaps.
  • Conduct annual TNA’s and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that effective site induction programs are in place.
  • Provide instructional design expertise and advice to deliver training and assessment instruments that effectively assess the competence and drive increased capability through practical skills and knowledge transfer.
  • Regular review of training requirements with Training Principal, HRBPs, safety and leaders.
  • Deliver company mandatory trainings.
  • Assist with Management and Leadership, Mold and Core, NDT/Radiography, Machining, Welding and Grinding, Maintenance, Burn and Arc, Layout, and Inspection departments training needs such as:
    • Delivering pre-developed trainings
    • Administrative work in reference to company training and apprenticeship.
    • Communicating with department Managers, Supervisors, and leads to get suggestions and recommendations for departments training needs and improvements.
    • Communicate with welding apprenticeship partners and attend required meetings.
    • Communicate with Training and Development Manager for direction, development needs, and department training updates.
    • Deliver and coordinate welding related training involving in house training and 3-year state approved Fabrication Welding Apprenticeship Program.
    • Provide suggestions on training structure/delivery improvements.
    • Work independently with site Managers and Supervisors on training scheduling in reference to production schedule.
    • Assist Training and Development Manager with task as needed.
Qualifications:
  • AA in Welding Technology (Technical College Welding Program Graduate)
  • Welding Certifications for the following (Required)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding – 1G, 2G, 3G positions
  • Flux Core Arc Welding – 1G, 2G, 3G positions
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding – 1G, 2G positions
  • Welding Certifications desired but not required
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding – 6G open root
Training Coordinator will be required to take and pass all Upgrade Welder weld test including through wall exit test. These tests will go through visual testing, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, and radiographic testing and must meet all acceptance criteria. Training Coordinator will also be required to complete and pass a carbon arc gouging test and grinding assessment to company standards.
Experience:
  • 3 years of teaching and/or supervisor experience
  • 5 years of welding experience
  • Blueprint reading
  • 1-year development experience
  • 1-year mentoring experience
  • Apprenticeship experience, either actual apprentice or training in apprenticeships, desired but not required.
  • Experience working with a government-contracted facility preferred
  • Undertaking and application of training needs analysis
  • Understanding of training methodologies and blended learning
  • Able to build training packages, materials and assessment tools
  • Change and project management
  • Stakeholder engagement and management
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Training and development competency frameworks
  • Change management techniques and approaches
  • Ability to build networks, collaborate and gain engagement across silos
  • Focused and results oriented, driven by excellence, change agent and highly autonomous with sense of urgency.

  • LMS administration
