Job summary

The School Nursing Special Needs team enables and empowers children and young people with complex health and behavioural needs to access schools safely.

We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker with experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities, to work within the schools across the district.

This post is hours per week

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support identified children and young people with their individual needs and will be required to develop their skills in the care and managements of Tracheostomy and gastrostomy interventions in an allocated school.

In addition to this, they will work as part of the School Nursing Special Needs (SNSN) team in providing health care support to the children and young people in the special schools across Bradford, Airedale and Craven.

To work as part of a team, supporting the School Nursing Special Needs service to deliver high standards of care to the children and young people on our caseload.

To work as part of a multi-agency team within a special school under the direction of the band 6 senior nurse and Team Leader.

To facilitate the health and wellbeing of Children attending special school through providing training, health promotion sessions , carrying out growth measurements and audiology screening sessions within the special schools and supporting children for health interventions with preparation work.

To work as part of the team to promote and be a support to nurses delivering immunisations in schools and clinic settings

To help raise the profile of the School Nursing Special Needs team by working as part of the team with the upkeep and support of our social media platforms.
