Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 Salary

Description

Job Summary

The Controller reports to the VP of Accounting and will lead all technical accounting, close-cycle processes, controls, and certain treasury operations of the Good 2 Go Stores and Good 2 Go Eats businesses. This role has responsibility for developing and enforcing policies and procedures of all end-to-end accounting processes and ensuring compliance with all accounting and control standards. As Controller, you will set the tone of the accounting team and will delegate tasks, coach others, and perform detailed work. You will develop, lead, and inspire a high-performance team and influence others without a direct line of authority. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

As a Controller You Will

Tactical

  • Ensure month-end is closed accurately by Company established deadlines and standards
    • Complete bank reconciliations
    • Review AR aging reports and ensure payment reconciliations are complete
    • Tie out inventory including ensuring physical counts to Company standard
    • Identify and record Prepaid Expenses and Other Assets
    • Tie out fixed assets
    • Review AP aging reports and identify problem accounts
    • Identify and record other accrued expenses
    • Tie out long term debt
    • Reconcile equity accounts
  • Ensure monthly reporting processes are complete and accurate
  • Prepare, review, and present financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Assist with internal and external financial audit processes and ensure that financial controls and policies are followed
  • Employ best practices, policies, and processes to monitor and ensure appropriate control environment
  • Complete daily cash reporting and monthly cash forecasting, planning, and budgeting
  • Support leadership in banking and financing activities
  • Work with Corporate Treasury department on various Bank Compliance submissions

Strategic

  • Establish and implement short and long-range departmental goals and objectives
  • Assess and evaluate opportunities for providing additional data to assist operations and leadership team in decision-making processes
  • Establish and ensure systems are developed and utilized to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems, functions, controls, and procedures
  • Identify areas of improvement and efficiency including processes and software improvements/upgrades

Qualifications


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Five or more years’ experience in a Controller role or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven track record of developing and coaching staff to create an effective team
  • Capable of managing a broad accounting skillset including data entry, balance sheet reconciliation, financial management, and all other general ledger accounting positions (i.e. Assistant Controllers, Staff Accountants, AP)
  • Energy and drive to deliver objectives on time and accurately
  • Experience in a high paced corporate accounting setting
  • Ability to support large and complex companies and associated financial structures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Adheres to the company’s values and ethical expectations
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to effectively multitask
  • Strong understanding of reporting and financial systems
  • Strong understanding of excel and ERP type accounting software systems

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, an MBA, or a related field
  • CPA or CMA
  • Public accounting experience in audit

Supervision of Others

  • Financial Accounting staff

Work Environment

  • Typically work is performed in an office setting

Physical Demands

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Able to move about office setting to complete responsibilities
  • Frequent use of phone, computer, and office equipment
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs
