About you

The ideal candidate has a respect for the work and sacrifice that goes into producing fresh animal products and takes pride in taking the last steps in producing quality meats for our guests. A successful butcher will have a background in protein production, having past experience as a butcher or prep cook who worked around a high volume of domestic and game meats. All candidates will have some knife skills, will be organized and efficient, and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. ServSafe food handler licenses are preferred, but not necessary to apply.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, and prepare meat for sale
• Weigh, package, and price meat products
• Clean and maintain butchery equipment
• Inspect meat for quality and freshness
• Provide customer service and answer questions about meat products
• Order and receive meat deliveries
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
• Maintain a pleasing, sanitary and fresh "showcase"
• Work from and add to a revolving prep list

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in a butcher shop or similar setting
• Strong understanding of meat cuts, preparation, and cooking methods
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Food safety and sanitation certification
