Boys Town is Hiring a Hospital Service Reconciliation & Clinical Integrity Nurse Coordinator Near Omaha, NE

Assumes responsibility for full clinical reconciliation of charges and documentation for all hospital services. Coordinates with the appropriate clinical staff and leadership to ensure work is completed efficiently and within acceptable turnaround times, to finalize appropriate charges for claim submission and billing. Focuses on both the billing accuracy for the patient, as well as the financial wellbeing of Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH). Serves as the Clinical Documentation Integrity expert, offering education, workflow suggestions and system build to support the most optimum and efficient documentation outcomes.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time. Monday-Friday 8a-5p, then flexibile after training, anytime between 6a-6p.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Serves as a liaison between Hospital Clinical staff, Surgery Scheduling/Pre-Admissions, Patient Access, BTNRH Patient Financial Services (business office), BTNRH Ancillary departments and Hosp Svcs Chg Recon for all clinical documentation integrity and charge reconciliation efforts, ensuring both accuracy and timeliness of review and reconciliation work, taking extra steps as needed to coordinate work efforts to optimize or correct errors found and provide needed education.
  • Conducts audits and documents findings of clinical OR and Hospital staff, as well as Hosp Svcs charge recon nurse to ensure correct charge capture practices are being followed across all charge entry areas that culminate in a hospital claim or patient statement.
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation and oversees clinical documentation patterns and trends to identify areas of improvement, working with appropriate clinical leadership to make changes where optimization is needed.
  • Coordinates and provides ongoing education to providers and clinical staff regarding documentation requirements for optimal data integrity, data reliability and clinical coding. Works with the coding team to improve physician and clinical engagement.
  • Works with the Materials Management team and clinical by coordinating communication between Materials Management and Patient Financial Services to establish new EAP build in Epic.
  • Supports the development of effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable local, state, federal laws and program requirements.
  • Active participant in assisting Pharmacy auditing for 340B Turnkey and any other internal audits needed.
  • Maintains 95% or better accuracy rate for records reviewed and reconciled.
  • Maintains BTNRH set standards for charge reconciliation turnaround times, to allow for expedited hospital claims billing within 3 business days unless special circumstances arise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and complete projects accurately and on time.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and use analytical skills, with close attention to details.
  • Communicate concisely and work well with diverse groups of people, including clinical staff, patients, and families, as well as financial staff, remaining professional at all times.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, close attention to detail, math aptitude, and analytical/organizational skills.
  • Computer skills experience to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Be self-directed and able to problem-solve, make decisions and organize/complete projects independently with very limited supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school with a current state license required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an operating room or medical unit required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • EPIC experience preferred.
