Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley is Hiring a Programs and Grants Manager, Tennessee Alliance Near Knoxville, TN

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Executive Director of the Tennessee Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs and the Boys & Girls Clubs in Tennessee, the Programs and Grants Manager is responsible for overseeing the Tennessee Alliance/BGCTN grant writing, grants management, program oversight and contracts with funders with primary focus on programming, database management, training, reporting, and compliance for each grant program.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Write grants, manage 3rd party grant writers, and manage and report data and financial details for all grants.
    • Assist in the writing of small grants
    • Lead the information gathering and timeline for 3rd party grant writers
    • Manage financial details for reimbursements.
    • Prepare and report data to funding organizations; programmatic grant reports within varying databases
  • Manage administrative and operational processes and ensure the effective use of resources, ensuring best practices in all activities; ensures the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements and standards of BGCA, and other affiliated and regulatory agencies, and operates in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Internal and External Relationship Management
    • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Club staff across the state of Tennessee, vendors and funding agencies.
    • Visit Sites as required for several funding agencies.
  • Coordinates the development of and access to financial resources, including grant applications, to facilitate operational effectiveness and development, working as appropriate with other partners/contractors.
  • Assist Executive Director in other related special projects, as assigned, including the Annual State Youth of the Year program, Legislative Day, and ongoing grassroots advocacy and recognition efforts.
  • Perform other grant management, reporting, programmatic and financial activities as required to include connecting Clubs with programs and venders to support youth mental health initiatives.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or a minimum of five years’ work experience in non-profit financial operations.
  • Minimum two years grant writing experience
  • Previous experience managing databases, third-party vendors, state contract budgets and audits, expense and output/outcome tracking, and contract compliance
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting theories
  • Preparation of financial, programmatic and other reports in a systematic, legible, and knowledge manmer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience with Boys & Girls Clubs is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or similar field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Experience contracting with state and the federal government grants

ABILITIES:

  • High energy, motivated, confident, compassionate and creative
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods at high levels of activity, managing multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Proficiency to maintain databases, spreadsheets and to prepare presentations
  • Excellent attention to detail with speed and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizational leadership, Club staff, vendors, and other related agencies
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds
  • Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 8 hours or more
  • Requires sitting for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to maneuver around an office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Continuous operation of computer and all other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and printer
