Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley is Hiring a Food Service Assistant - Boys and Girls Club, Grants Pass Branch Near Grants Pass, OR

FOOD SERVICE ASSISTANT– GRANTS PASS BRANCH

Looking for an organized, energetic and motivated individual to assist in Meal preparation, cleaning, washing Dishes and organizing the afterschool and summer meal program. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Food Service Assistant will help organize and supervise the meal program and other assigned duties. A professional appearance and an enthusiastic personality are required. Must have or commit to getting and maintaining a food handler certification.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley is to provide year-round positive, fun and safe places for all youth, helping them build self-esteem and develop skills necessary to make right choices, becoming responsible and productive citizens.

Part-Time hourly position

Pay: $ 14.70 per hour

Schedule: After-school program: Monday - Friday from 1:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. Summer Program: Monday - Friday from 9:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

*Summer program hours of operation are 7:45 a.m.- 5:15 p.m. Occasional non-school days, training opportunities and Friday evenings provide different/additional hours.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

1. PROGRAM PLANNING:

· Work schedule as assigned/ planned each day/week.

· Follow cleaning schedule.

· Meals are to be served on time.

· Must be flexible with hours for occasional evening events and special events.

2. PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION:

· Club Members greeted by first name as they enter food service area.

· Club Members are encouraged to use table manners.

· Organize and put away weekly food and supply orders.

· Log daily service numbers.

· Follow all health code laws.

3. PROGRAM CLIMATE:

· Kitchen area is always neat and clean.

· Kitchen area is cleaned at the end of each day with tables and chairs set up for following day.

· Kitchen area is stocked with needed supplies. A list of needs is provided to the Operations Director and a plan is developed to meet those needs.

4. YOUTH GUIDANCE:

· Utilize the Boys & Girls Clubs Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.

· Be a positive role model for Club Members.

· Develop a positive relationship with Club staff, members, parents, volunteers, guests and teachers.

· Know and follow Club rules, policies, and procedures. State these rules to Club Members in positive terms.

· Unacceptable behavior is dealt with utilizing techniques that help Club Members to accept personal responsibility for their behavior.

· Unacceptable behavior is dealt with in a manner that maintains and enhances a Club Member’s self-esteem.

· Club Members are continually encouraged to participate and succeed.

A primary responsibility of all persons assigned to this job title is to support the mission of the Club and to promote positive child and customer relations. Passion for helping teens succeed in all areas of life. Healthy energy to keep pace with teens. Good problem-solving skills.

· Maintain close daily contact with Club staff, Club members, school personnel and volunteers to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions and advise/counsel.

· Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members’ parents, and others.

REQUIRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Preferred Food Handlers License and previous work in Food Service, Preferred One-year experience working with young children (K-5th grade, Teen), .

Physical: This is a physical job, indoors and outdoors in high noise level situations. This position requires that you be on your feet at the front entrance for most of your shift.
