Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Career Pathways Program is a career exposure/exploration, preparation and experience program that serves the youth of BGCP to support them in building the cultural and social capital necessary to enter a career path of their choosing based on their passions, interests, and talents rather than solely based on financial need. As the Career Pathways Program, we strive to provide access to career preparation and resources for our youth that supports them in fulfilling their aspirations with an equity-driven approach by providing differentiated support for all grade levels from the 9th-16th grade.
As a full-time, Career Pathways Program Manager, you will implement programming that prepares youth to pursue and complete a broad range of postsecondary education and training pathways. Through the partnership with BGCP’s Clubhouses, Future Grads, and partner schools, you lead programming to support students in building their knowledge to increase exposure to different career paths and building their resources. As a Career Pathways Program Manager, you will equip high school with the resources, navigational skills, and guidance to complete secure a path that aligns with their career goals.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Director of Career Pathways Programs, to develop and implement Career Exposure/Exploration and Preparation Programming
Plan and coordinate logistics for successful field trips for 25 students on a quarterly basis
Partner with Future Grads to recruit students to attend Career Pathways Programs
Execute Career Pathways Programming (Exploration and Preparation) in collaboration with Career Pathways team, partner schools and Future Grads
Establish and maintain partnerships with external BGCP stakeholders (community colleges, trade schools, partner high schools and corporate companies) aligned to Career Pathways Programming
Support students in completing a Career Toolkit (resume, cover letter, letters of recommendation, etc.)
Support recruitment and enrollment of dual enrollment courses for high school students offered through partner community colleges
Build relationships with students and understand their career interests
Maintain the Career Hub page on the BGCP website to include resources for students and staff
Maintain case notes and data in Salesforce’s database accurately and on time to inform program needs and annual reports to stakeholders
What will success look like?
Demonstrate strong leadership qualities including the ability to coordinate, inspire and motivate others
Successful implementation of the Career Pathways Future Grads junior program activities resulting in actively engaged students who maintain participation all year, successfully complete program goals, and commit to postsecondary education (strong student recruitment & retention all year)
Development of career readiness curriculum readiness curriculum in collaboration with the Career Pathways teamNorth County team
Ability to manage and engage groups of students through strong after-school workshops grounded in the HSPS standard of excellence
Effectively collaborate with the whole Future Grads & BGCP High School teams to elevate programming
Showcase high level of communication skills, both written and oral
Strong program management skills in being able to manage different projects at the same time
QUALIFICATIONS
Postsecondary program completion, or equivalent experience
Ability to navigate various school systems (high school and post-secondary school)
A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
2-3 years of experience working with high school students
Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience
Great organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Strong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, and a problem solver
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, G-Suite, Canva, Salesforce
Spanish, Tagalog, Arabic or Mandarin fluency (preferred)
Experience working with California Community College system (preferred)
LOCATION
East Palo Alto and Redwood City, CA (Menlo Park and Daly City on a monthly basis)
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday (10am – 7pm)
5 days on site (Friday ½ a day on site)
With the possibility of additional morning, evening, or weekend hours to accommodate meetings with program partners, schools, parents, and special events
SALARY & BENEFITS
Employment Status: Full-Time Hourly
Pay Range: $22.00 - $33.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
