The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South is gearing up for another unforgettable Camp Season at Camp Riverside!

We are looking for dynamic Camp Counselors, ages 18 for the 2024 Camp Season: June to August.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide leadership and guidance to a group of campers in a range of daily activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide supervision of campers participating in scheduled camp events.
• Monitor and provide guidance to campers in areas of health and safety, team building, and interpersonal relationships.
• Display a passion and enthusiasm for working with our amazing campers.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for the young people under your supervision.
• Possess a growth mindset, being open to receiving feedback and to push yourself to learn new skills and tackle new challenges.
• Resolve issues of interpersonal, behavioral, and administrative nature; administer disciplinary action in accordance with camp standards.
• Provide feedback to campers and camp leadership regarding camper progress and concerns; identify and communicate areas for improvement.
• Contribute ideas and suggestions to camp management in areas of program participation growth, camper satisfaction, and retention of campers.
• Contribute to a healthy, positive camp work environment, based around mutual respect, kindness and growth.
• Maintain awareness of potential health and safety issues, identify hazards, and take appropriate action to resolve.
• Promote the in-the-moment experience of camp by staying off your phone whenever on-duty with campers.
• Perform bus monitor responsibilities that include but are not limited to: supervision of campers riding the bus, sign-in and sign-out functions for campers riding the bus, and enforcement of safety measures for campers riding the bus
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Experience working with children in day camp setting.
• Experience in one or more camp activities including: outdoor living, boating, archery, camping, teambuilders, music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games or similar.
• Ability to interact effectively with children and parents on a range of issues.

To be considered, you must:

• commit to all 9 weeks of summer camp
• understand that you will be outside doing various activities
• have reliable transportation to and from the camp
