TITLE: Community Ambassador (Store Sales Associate)

FLSA STATUS: Part-time, hourly non-exempt $17.00 -$21.00 based on experience.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The primary function of the Sales Associate/Ambassador is to offer customers a unique and immersive experience centered around sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and global sustainability. Our ideal candidate is friendly, upbeat, a team player, collaborative, and has strong interpersonal skills. The role involves connecting with customers and products on a more in-depth level by effectively telling the stories. The goal is to create an engaging and meaningful shopping experience that fosters community and inspires customers to embrace sustainable and socially conscious living.

• Customer Engagement: Greet customers warmly, initiate conversations, and actively listen to understand their needs and preferences. Build genuine connections with customers to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
• Product Storytelling: Possess in-depth knowledge of the products and art, including their origins, materials, and the stories of the artisans or entrepreneurs behind them. Share these stories with customers, making the products come to life and creating an emotional connection.
• Sustainable Education: Educate customers about the importance of sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and global impact. Demonstrate the value of choosing eco-friendly and socially responsible products.
• Experience Curation: Design and implement memorable experiences within the space to engage customers and foster a sense of community. This could include workshops, talks, or interactive displays that align with the store's values and products.
• Personalized Recommendations: Use the understanding of customers' preferences to offer personalized product recommendations. Highlight how each product aligns with the customers' values and lifestyle choices.
• Problem-Solving: Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a proactive and empathetic manner. Seek solutions that align with the store's values and customer satisfaction.
• Sales and Conversions: Facilitate sales while maintaining a consultative and non-pushy approach. Focus on building relationships rather than just completing transactions.
• Visual Merchandising: Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to ensure the space is aesthetically appealing and effectively showcases the products and their stories.
• Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, innovations, and news related to sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and global sustainability. Share relevant information with customers to foster meaningful conversations.
• Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with colleagues to support each other, contribute to team initiatives, and continuously improve the overall customer experience.
• By embodying the role of a Sustainable Experience Curator, the sales associate/greeter plays a pivotal part in establishing the store as a hub for conscious consumerism, encouraging customers to embrace products that positively impact the world while creating a memorable and enjoyable shopping journey.
• Aid with stockroom organization and supporting with product replenishment on sales floor.
• Assist customers with the purchasing of merchandise.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Strong Interpersonal Skills
• Weekend Availability: Available to work a variety of hours, Including nights and weekends and holidays.
• Must be 18 years or older
• High School or GED equivalent
• Previous retail, hospitality, customer service, photography experience a plus
• Technology Savvy
• Proficient with Microsoft office suit
• Experience working with Shopify
