Social Recreation Coordinator
Full time position is available to assist the Club Director and Program Manager in planning and facilitating the programs for Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. Position requires Bachelor's degree in sports, education or relevant field, minimum 1 year experience working with children in a full time position, and experience supervising several part-time staff. Interact with diverse personalities, in a non-emotional, non-confrontational manner using tact, maturity, and flexibility at all times.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential duties Include:
*Plan, publicize, organize, and conduct recreational activities, tournaments, games, leagues, and special events
*Prepare written plans for program activities including goals, mechanics, needs, and cost projections
*Supervise and motivate staff and volunteers in your department, counsel and discipline members
*Assume management of facility in the absence of Club Director or Program Manager
*Maintain and report accurate program records and monthly statistical records
*Assist in special projects
*Assist in training of Club staff
*Recommend and requisition supplies for areas of responsibility.
*Compose periodic reports to Club Director
*Develop new member orientation program on a monthly basis and provide continuous contact with parents and local schools
*Organize and conduct scheduled skill clinics for members and club staff
*Assume responsibility for various contracted programs
*Assist with other Boys & Girls Clubs activities and special events
Qualifying Requirements:
-A four (4) year degree from an accredited institution is preferred, but not required; and a minimum of one year experience working with children in a full time position.
-Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
-Ability to get along with diverse personalities, in a non-emotional, non-confrontational manner
-Must enjoy working with children age 6 - 18
-Display tact, maturity, and flexibility at all times
-Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills needed.
-Computer skills required -Must have and maintain a safe driving record
-Must have or obtain CDL license (at BGCBC expense)
-CPR and First Aid certification
During school year hours are predominantly from 12noon to 8pm; during the summer and non-school days hours are typically between 8am and 6pm.
