Youth Development Professional

Job details

Salary: $15.00 an hour

Job Type: Part-time, Non-exempt

Shifts: M-F 2:00pm –7:00pm; Summer hours 8:00am - 4:00pm

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for implementing the day-to-day operations of the afterschool program, ensuring a safe, positive environment, implementing the schedule, and collaborating with the Club Director. YDP's are essential for the supervision of members and programming during Club hours. YDP's utilize curriculum for programming from our National Organization to plan, develop, and implement to our members.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Preparing Youth for Success

1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: promote and stimulate program participation and provide guidance and role modeling to members.

2. Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by: planning, organizing, and implementing a range of program services and activities for drop in members and visitors.

3. Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

4. Providing a safe, warm, welcoming environment for participants while building respectful relationships.

Program Development and Implementation

5. Manage administrative systems by registering new members and participating in their club orientation process.

6. Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the Club always. Prepare periodic activities.

7. Communicating with Club Director to coordinate daily activities prior to the arrival each afternoon.

8. Collecting documentation demonstrating that the programs are meeting its goals and objectives, and providing that data to the Club Director. Examples of documentation include: Program sign in sheets, participant surveys, etc.

Supervision

9. Manage assigned club members; provide ongoing feedback; and identify and support developmental opportunities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean Club spaces assigned.
  • Oversee and support youth during E-Learning online instruction.
  • Participate in special programs and/or events.
  • May be required to drive Club vehicles.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer) Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

· Minimum High school diploma

· Experience working with children.

· Knowledge of youth development.

· Ability to motivate youth.

· Ability to work with the public.

· Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.

· Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.

· Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

· Valid State Driver’s License (If Applicable)

This is a part-time, non- exempt, position. Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 2pm to 7pm, with some evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

High energy level; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; tactful; flexible. Ability to reason well and possess sound judgment, Physical requirements include sight, hearing, and standing for extended periods of time. Must be physically able to interact and participate in all Club functions.
