Boys & Girls Club of Washington County, Inc. is Hiring a Youth Development Professional - Summer Hire Near Beverly, OH

Responsibilities, Duties & Accountabilities: The core, critical and essential work duties, functions, and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Works with and serves the youth members in BGCWCOH programs such as outreach and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), activities and services.
  • Works with youth members to provide teaching, mentoring, safe and life enriching experience.
  • Provides support and assistance for afterschool programs such as homework assistance, mentoring, internet and technology, and other instructional assistance.
  • Assists and supports structured educational and unstructured learning and playtimes; Teaches youth members relevant lessons of planned activities.
  • Encourages youth member participation and ongoing interest in developed and planned activities and programming.
  • Follows a routine monthly and daily activities and events plans for learning, play and fun;
  • Assists in providing direction, guidance and mentoring to youth members in order to enhance their knowledge and strengthen their skills and abilities;
  • Serves snacks, beverages and dinner set-ups, ensuring youth members receive assigned daily nutrition;
  • Works with leadership, staff and parents regarding child development, specific and individual needs and behavioral issues;
  • Shares ideas and suggestions with peers, staff members and leadership;
  • Assists and supports youth members to receive the optimal opportunities for learning, growth and development;
  • Works with all staff to ensure responsibilities are completed in the best interest of the youth members;
  • Ensures each youth member is greeted, treated with respect and kindness, and demonstrates these values with other staff members;
  • Listens to youth members ideas, suggestions and concerns, and providing encouragement and support; keeping leadership updated with regards to serious or significant matters;
  • Assists in the communication with parents to ensure the most beneficial outcomes for individual youth members;
  • Assists staff members and volunteers with daily activities;
  • Assists in addressing the day-to-day requests, issues and concerns, reporting significant issues to leadership;
  • Supports the effective and efficient use of resources;
  • Supports the mentorship of youth members in a safe and healthy environment; Assists in providing routine updates and reports to the Program Coordinator;
  • Complies with required protocols and the standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for the organization’s programs; i.e.,
  • Complies with Mandatory Reporting requirements and procedures;
  • Assists in the administration of Safety Programs, BGCA.net and other program requirements;
  • Provides assistance and support to the team to organize and coordinate fundraising events and activities
  • Takes a proactive, positive and sincere interest in our youth members, ensuring continuity of the organization’s long-standing relationship with the community;
  • Maintains utmost discretion in dealing with sensitive, proprietary and confidential matters related to the organization;
  • Maintains regular and routine attendance and punctuality as required;
  • Available and willing to work evenings, week-ends and holidays;
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned;
  • Based on qualifications, may drive organizational vehicles to provide transportation.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High School dipolma or Equivalent
  • Must successfully pass initial and annual Criminal Background Check and the Sex Offender Registry as required by the Boys and Girls Club of Washington County Ohio (BGCWCOH) in compliance with federal, state and local governing agencies
  • Ability to work with the general public and to tactfully and professionally address public concerns and complaints
  • Ability to work within established project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Satisfactory verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in working with confidential and other sensitive information
  • Ability to work with others and maintain professional work relationships with coworkers
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory and required punctuality and attendance, and the ability to work flexible schedules with occasional evenings and/or week-ends.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Teaching, childcare, or working with youth: 2 years (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Beverly, OH 45715: Relocate before starting work (Required)
