Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield is Hiring a Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) Near Ridgefield, CT

Position: Summer Camp Counselor

Location: Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield

Status: Seasonal Part Time

Supervised by: Senior Program Director/Program Director

Hours: Monday-Friday: Hours will be assigned upon scheduling; Jun 26-Aug 18

JOB SUMMARY:
Summer Camp Counselors provide supervision, guidance, and activity oversight for campers in the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield’s summer camp program in a fun and educational manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be CPR Certified.
  • 1 Year experience working with youth preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Commitment to a positive, fun, and team-oriented working environment.
  • Demonstrated history of responsibility, dependability, and maturity.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative, and adaptable to situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

  • Provide supervision of campers participating in scheduled camp events.
  • Assist Age Group Supervisor in set up and take down of camp activities.
  • Assist in cleaning and upkeep of camp facilities.
  • Assist Age Group Supervisor in resolving issues of interpersonal concerns between campers.
  • Assists in the organization of games and maintains order at indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Assists in teaching the various games and rules of play.
  • Assists in the preparation of activities such as arts & crafts, recreational sports, special activities, etc.
  • Takes necessary precautions to secure safety of campers.
  • Assists in housekeeping and maintenance at the camp facilities.
  • Ability to report any and all incidents regarding camper safety, security, and well-being to camp leadership.
  • Follows camp objectives, rules, policies, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to be on feet most of day while interacting with campers.
  • Ability to lift/move, set up and store equipment.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment while maintaining order within the program.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Children: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
