TITLE: Summer Program Support/ Float
DEPARTMENT: Program
REPORTS TO: Director of Grants and Programs
FLSA STATUS: o Exempt þ Non-Exempt þ Seasonal
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Summer Program Support/Float Staff is a temporary position created to offer support during the summer program for the Boys & Girls Club of Brown County. This position is responsible for janitorial duties, prepping, serving and cleaning of snack/meals, and offering support to Youth Development Coordinators (YDC) in program rooms. This position may at times be responsible for stepping into program rooms as a substitute and to allow for breaks.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Safety
§ Responsible for daily cleaning routine, cleaning and maintaining various types of flooring. This includes sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and scrubbing to ensure the cleanliness of the floors. In addition, responsible for cleaning hallway, bathrooms, office area, windows, furniture, drinking fountains, kitchen.
§ Deep Cleaning: carpet cleaning, bathrooms, vents, light fixtures, sidewalks, and other deep cleaning as determined.
§ Safety and Security: periodic safety checks of all activity areas and ground checks and reporting to supervisor any unsafe conditions. Functions include locking/unlocking doors, participating in disaster drills, and other duties related to safety as needed.
§ Responsible for answering the door/phone as needed.
General Staff Assistance
§ Step into program activity rooms to facilitate pre-planned programs as needed to allow for YDC bathroom breaks, lunch breaks, absences.
§ Offer secondary help in program rooms as needed/when directed.
Food Service
§ Assist with daily food service in the kitchen and dining area for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.
§ Assist with inventory management of food and other kitchen items.
§ Following procedure for food safety.
Supervision
§ Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.
§ Step into activities and offer additional supervision for program areas that need additional support.
§ Recognize and react quickly to problem challenges and quickly stop undesirable behaviors.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintain friendly relationships with Club families
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time. Must be able to life at least 40 lbs.
