Boys & Girls Club of Albany is Hiring an Assistant Elementary Club Director Near Albany, OR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Assist Elementary Club Director with overall daily operations of the designated Clubhouse with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, membership administration, and staff support.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)

Program Development

1. Support lead staff with planning and implementing Club programs to prepare youth for success.

- Discuss and assist programs and activities in the areas of Education & Career Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, The Arts, Health & Life Skills, and Character & Citizenship.

- Initiate new programs and events with the approval of the Elementary Club Director

- Promote participation in Club programs and events.

2. Evaluate Club programs on a continual basis and ensure programs and activities respond to member needs and interests, addressing their gender and cultural diversity.

3. Develop Quarterly Program Calendars to be available at the start of every program quarter. Post daily/weekly program schedules throughout the Clubhouse to encourage member participation.

4. Adapt or create vehicles for promoting upcoming events or programs to members and parents, including newsletters, flyers, bulletin boards, etc.

5. Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.

Staff Support

1. Participate in and contribute to weekly staff meetings.

2. Maintain close relationships with Club staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, objectives and standards.

3. Monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.

4. Oversee staffing alignment and daily Club schedule in elementary departments and get it approved by the Club Director.

Supervision & Safety

1. Create a club environment that facilitates Youth Development.

2. Always promote the safety of Club members.

3. Provide guidance and role modeling to members.

4. Communicate with Club members, parents and staff regarding member behavior, discipline and overall Club performance as needed along with Elementary Club Director

5. Supervise Club members as needed, in structured programs and activities.

6. Maintain up-to-date and thorough records of member incidents, guidance and discipline.

Additional Responsibilities

1. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e., family events, recognition parties, field trips, etc.), and/or participate in the implementation of other Club activities.

2. May consult with parents concerning members and Club issues.

3. May be responsible for transporting Club members, staff and volunteers.

4. Participate in parent orientations.

5. Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact, as needed, with external community groups, schools, members’ families and other groups to assist in resolving problems in the community and establish partnerships to enhance Club programs and activities.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications within three months of hire date.

Compensation: $40,000-46,000, DOE plus benefits

Hours per week: Full-Time Salaried, Exempt

Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree or 2-4 years of experience in a related field

Licenses Required: First Aid/CPR Certification within three months of hire.
