Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend is Hiring a Bus Driver Near Tallahassee, FL

Job Description: Bus Driver

Location:

Tallahassee, FL, 32304

Primary Function:

The Bus Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting children to and from Boys & Girls Clubs and club-related activities. Additionally, the bus driver must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Key Roles:

Organization Responsibilities:
  1. Positively promote the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend through, but not limited to: talking to potential members, current members, parents, community members, schools, and any form of media.
  2. Participate in training sessions offered to develop knowledge of transportation safety educational resources and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Big Bend.
  3. Communicate with and support the Administrative and Executive Offices to continually enhance the level of services provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend.
  4. Follow organizational process to have needs or concerns addressed.
  5. Promote understanding and acceptance of diversity with students, members, staff, and the community.
  6. Create exciting learning opportunities for all members who participate in the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend and opportunities to demonstrate positive personal and social success.
  7. Encourage member participation through enjoyment, challenge, and communication.
Bus Driver Responsibilities:
  1. Arrive at designated post on time, prepared, and organized to deliver educational and social services to all members.
  2. Communicate with the Club Director in advance of absence and/or needed time off.
  3. Record member attendance daily and submit to the Club Director by the end of each day.
  4. Ensure safe transportation of members and staff.
  5. Run routes directly as specified by supervisor.
  6. Comply with all applicable safety requirements, laws and regulations.
  7. Complete daily safety checks and maintenance of bus (fueling, replacing bulbs, adding fluids,etc.).
  8. Notify supervisor of any safety or maintenance concerns.
  9. Maintain records including bus safety and maintenance checks, bus logs, attendance rosters and others as required.
  10. Keep the bus clean inside and out.
  11. Use positive and professional interpersonal communication skills with members and staff.
  12. Assist the Club Director to increase parental involvement through participation in their child’s education and adult education services.
Supervision Responsibilities:
  1. Communicate with all staff to establish and enforce Club Norms and Expectations that all members and staff follow.
  2. Confront and de-escalate all negative and/or inappropriate behavior exhibited by members, staff, and visitors.
  3. Provide support to members and staff who confront negative and/or inappropriate behaviors.
  4. Provide neutralization to all members to allow them to continue to participate in programs and activities.
  5. Communicate member concerns and behaviors with staff and Club Director, and provide documentation when necessary.
  6. Maintain visual awareness of all members at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of bus routes.
  7. Provide support during field trips and any off campus trips.
Additional Responsibilities: As assigned by the Club Director

Professional Relationships:

Internal: Maintain contact and communication with Club staff, volunteers, and Club members. External: Club Director and the Administrative and Executive Offices of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a valid Florida CDL with a (P) Passenger endorsement.
  • One (1) year successful experience in bus driving.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Prefer experience working with children.
  • Ability to serve as a role model and leader to members.
