Position Overview

Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Individual Giving and Donor Relations to join our team. The Director will play a crucial role in securing financial support from individual donors, fostering relationships with donors, managing the annual giving program, donor stewardship efforts, and the establishment of a planned giving program. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic fundraising efforts and make a significant impact on the future of youth in Silicon Valley.

Key ResponsibilitiesIndividual Giving and Fundraising:

  • Develop and implement individual giving strategies to secure financial support from individual donors.
  • Actively engage and cultivate relationships with individual donors, seeking opportunities for major gifts and planned giving.
  • With the Chief Development Officer, develop and oversee a Giving Society program.
  • Work closely with the Development team to integrate individual giving strategies into the overall fundraising plan.

Annual Giving Program Management:

  • Oversee and manage the annual giving program, setting goals and strategies for its success.
  • Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and appeals to maximize annual giving.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors.
  • Create personalized donor engagement plans to steward and upgrade donors.
  • Implement effective donor recognition and appreciation strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to donors on the impact of their contributions.

Planned Giving Program Establishment:

  • Develop and implement strategies to establish a comprehensive planned giving program.
  • Identify and qualify planned giving prospects and provide them with information and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to facilitate planned gifts, such as bequests, charitable trusts, and gift annuities.

Collaboration:

  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop materials and campaigns that support individual giving and donor relations efforts.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to donor engagement.

Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports on fundraising progress, donor engagement activities, and planned giving efforts to the Chief Development Officer.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions in the donor management system.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on annual giving, stewardship, and planned giving.

· Proven track record of successfully soliciting and closing annual and planned gifts.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Familiarity with donor management software is a plus.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet. 

· Dynamic, adaptable, and can handle multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously. 

· Team player that thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

· Ability to consistently work a twelve-month position, including evening and weekend work as required. Must have reliable transportation to all work-related activities including evening and weekend work. 

· Must clear a Criminal History check and obtain an FBI Fingerprint Clearance.

Physical Requirements

· Frequent standing and walking

· Ability to speak clearly and understand oral communication.

· Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds of supplies or equipment waist height)

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Boys & Girls Clubs are often stressful, busy, and noisy environments. Staff are expected to work in situations where many member and facilities related activities take place at the same time.
