Under the supervision of the Vice President of Club Services, the Greater Visitacion Valley Clubhouse Director (CD) is in charge of our two Clubhouses in Greater Visitacion Valley, this includes providing overall leadership to both teams with an emphasis on the management and oversight of the Site Directors. 

Programmatically, the Clubhouse Director is responsible for developing the overall program vision for both Clubs, and working collaboratively with the Site Directors on the execution of the vision; this includes but is not limited to ensuring Club program requirements and outcome goals are met, initiating and developing strategic partnerships to enhance Club offerings; and active engagement in community initiatives in the Greater Visitacion Valley.

Operationally, there is an expectation that the CD is consistently onsite, percentage of time may vary, splitting their time at both Clubs to provide presence and support. Given that safety is our number one priority, adherence to BGCSF’s high standards for safety and risk management and working collaboratively with Site Directors to drive facility excellence and upkeep is essential.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Leadership- 30%

  • Create and maintain the Club's vision for youth to experience the optimal Club experience.
  • Coach/mentor staff to support team members’ professional development and promote core values, while increasing tenure and facilitating strong team dynamics.
  • Provide leadership and support the Clubs vision through the creation of effective team meetings, staff retreats, and supervision meetings. 
  • Raise the visibility of the Club’s programs while supporting the needs of the staff, children, and families we serve.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the Club, articulating the Club’s needs to others, and building and strengthening existing relationships that result in additional resources and supports for the Club. 
  • Actively engage and maintain a positive working relationship with all community stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations to the Senior Team about Clubhouse needs and opportunities based on local trends in the neighborhood, in schools, shifting demographics, etc.
  • Create systems that promote the effective operation and delivery of programs within the Club and community.
  • Lead the Club's 360-degree evaluation process (i.e. parent surveys, youth evaluations and self-evaluations from staff team) and create action plans and systems to maintain and or enhance youth participation and staff work experience. 
  • Establish and monitor adherence to all Club policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in organizational initiatives and working groups.
  • Serve as a think partner and co lead with Site Directors Club prep weeks, Policy reviews, Team Retreats, etc…
  • Advocate for Club support as needed (i.e. HR, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc.) to ensure the Club has the resources needed to function at an optimal level.
  • Attend and support larger Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco special events (Board Luncheon, Youth of the Year event, Gala, Golf Tournament, Camp changeover days, etc.)
  • Advance the mission of BGCSF as a whole; and make independent decisions consistent with the organization’s values in an ethical and transparent manner.

Administration and Management – 25%

  • Drive the successful execution of Clubhouse goals for total youth served, average daily attendance, program requirements, and Club members attending Camp Mendocino. 
  • supervise two Site Directors, Education Liaison, and Administrative Assistant.
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate a strong team capable of providing outstanding services to young people every day.
  • Develop administrative and operational systems that ensure accountability is in place for accurate data management, tracking of outcomes, and effective utilization of outcomes to drive program decisions at the Clubs.
  • Ensure that all staff Charts of Work are in line with the Club’s vision, and are being tracked for successful completion.
  • Liaise with the Marketing Department to develop and implement marketing strategies that ensure membership goals are reached; and to manage the Club’s social media presence.
  • Participate in Club facility audits, and lead discussions with Site Directors and Teams about the organization’s high standards of safety and cleanliness. 
  • Work collaboratively with both Site Directors to create and maintain a strong positive behavior model, and engage in member reentry strategies as needed. 
  • Serve as the lead for the Club’s Crisis Management Plan.
  • Hold Site Directors accountable to adhering to organizational expectations for closing procedures, safe ratios, facility and vehicle maintenance, etc. 

Strategic Partnerships and Community Relations – 25% 

  • Develop and/or advance strategic partnerships and collaborations with other nonprofits, and/or city agencies, building relationships that help BGCSF achieve its strategic plan goals and advance its reputation.
  • Ensure that Club key stakeholders are invited/engaged in larger organization special events. (i.e. Youth of the Year, Gala, Golf Tournament, etc…)
  • Oversee the successful development and execution of school partnerships, in collaboration with the Director of Citywide Education. 
  • Create facility use agreements and MOUs for Club partnerships.
  • Maintain active membership and a strong presence in professional organizations, community groups, and other spaces relevant to the work of BGCSF and its mission.
  • Lead an effective Learning with Community group ensuring active community participation. 

Revenue Development and Management - 20%

  • Develop the Club's annual budget, with input from the Site Directors. 
  • Regularly monitor budgets and financial statements to ensure that the Club stays within the annual budget.
  • Ensure that the Club’s membership earned income goals are met.
  • Serve as an active partner with the Development and Institutional Giving Departments by assisting in grant writing to generate new grants, reporting out on the outcomes of existing grants, leading donor tours, etc… 
  • Strategically steward successful ongoing relationships with BGCSF’s current funding partners and identify/initiate new revenue streams.

Requirements

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing multiple sites.
  • 3-5 years of experience building and managing community relationships and partnership development. 
  • A minimum of 5-7 years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in people management, program development, and facilities maintenance.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both oral and written with staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including strategic thinking/visioning and execution, project management, problem solving, decision making, and delegation. 
  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours.
  • Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long time periods

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on the circumstances of each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level or top-of-the-range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000 - $95,000 annually.
