Job Title: CDL Driver (Seasonal- Summer)

Department: Operations

Reports to: Senior Director of Programs

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

To succeed in this position, the CDL Driver must be able to operate the class of vehicle they’re licensed for, attend to delivery and maintenance details, and apply critical thinking principles to determine routes and make other decisions throughout their work. The CDL Driver’s primary responsibility is to deliver goods or people on time, safely and in accordance with department requests.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive)

  • Gathering, organizing, and loading items for delivery in a way that protects goods and supports efficiency.
  • Following traffic laws and driving in a safe, courteous manner
  • Managing fuel needs and ensuring vehicles are properly fueled.
  • Always adhere to traffic safety regulations, exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions to supervisors and highway authorities.
  • Performing inspections to ensure the vehicle and cargo are safe, in working condition and aligned with laws and regulations.
  • Perform safety checks of brakes, steering column, lights and mirrors prior to each leg of journey to ensure road readiness.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (not all inclusive)

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CDL license
  • Two years of experience working as a CDL driver with no legal or safety incidents on record
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks.
  • Strong organization, time management skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Obtain strong work ethic, positive attitude, high level of energy and adaptability.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Ability to assist at other BGCGKC locations as needed.
  • Must be comfortable assisting with other job functions in the Club as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
