As the District Director, you’ll serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pathfinder District and provide director-level leadership to the Orion District. You’ll play a pivotal role in advancing the council’s mission, strategy, and goals within your assigned district(s), driving membership growth, fundraising campaigns, and program development initiatives. Responsibilities
  • Serve as the chief district spokesperson, ensuring the council is properly represented at all times with a touch of extraordinary hospitality.
  • Recruit, develop, and maintain an effective volunteer management team to support district operations, infused with a spirit of warm and welcoming hospitality.
  • Achieve specific goals and objectives related to fundraising, membership recruitment and retention, volunteer training, and program development.
  • Secure financial support for programs within the assigned area, ensuring the success of camps and activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with community organizations and stakeholders, expanding the reach of Scouting programs.
  • Provide leadership to other professional staff members within the district(s).
  • Maintain a professional working climate that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, based on the council’s needs.
Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications
  • Passion for the Boy Scouts of America mission and principles.
  • Prior experience in Scouting, with a successful track record as a District Executive or Senior District Executive.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven fundraising success and community organization skills.
  • Ability to manage staff effectively and oversee district operations.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Skills for this position include:

  • 5 years of Scouting, with a successful track record as a District Executive or Senior District Executive.
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish (preferred but not required).

Benefits

Benefits include major medical, prescription coverage, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death, a 403(B) Retirement Plan with company match, and Employee Assistance Program plus compensation for authorized and approved business-related expenses including mileage reimbursement. The Longhorn Council reimburses cell phone expenses $75 per month and business mileage at $.67 a mile monthly (or the current IRS rate). Additionally, a generous vacation policy and twelve holiday observances are offered.

Salary or Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 depending on experience.
