Position Overview:
On the job training will be provided for this entry-level position. This position supports the Construction Materials and Geotechnical Laboratories by performing tests on soil, rock, or concrete samples for engineering/construction applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Testing of soil, aggregate, or concrete
• Perform data calculations
• Other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager and/or Assistant Laboratory Manager
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred but not required
Skills and Abilities
• Need to work well as a team member
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for test method compliance and project management direction
• Able to multitask when needed
• Flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meeting deadlines
• Basic math and computer skills required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Job Type
• Full-time, M-F 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Overtime is sometimes required
Physical Requirements
Physical Ability
• Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, bending, crawling, climbing; lift minimum of 80 pounds
Visual Ability
• Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of job
Hearing Ability
• Ability to monitor sounds for changes in machine function
Work Conditions
• Work exposes the employee to laboratory testing devices, dust, soil and other external environment factors
