ESSENTIAL DUTIES Include but are not limited to the following:
A. Maintenance
1. Clean and maintain the church building, including daily cleaning of the classrooms and bathrooms utilized by the Boulevard Presbyterian Church Preschool, and at least weekly cleaning of the church office, sanctuary, chapel, meeting rooms, kitchens, restrooms and fellowship hall.
2. Be able to operate, troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on church HV/AC systems, boiler, security systems, and fire safety systems.
3. Perform minor repairs to masonry, electrical systems, plumbing, appliances and immediate temporary repairs in an emergency.
4. Identify and report any major repair issues to the office manager, Head of Staff and/or Property Committee chairperson.
5. Monitor building for energy conservation procedures such as turning out lights, closing windows and doors, and turning off heating and cooling units.
6. Ensure that snow removal be done on the sidewalks and walkways by managing snow removal contractor.
B. Security
1. Help to maintain the security of the premises by checking to see that doors are locked and enforcing key policies.
2. Check the church grounds for any issues daily.
3. Check in with office if leaving the property, and make the office aware of vendors/inspectors coming into the building.
C. Operational Set Up
1. Set up rooms for activities scheduled during hours of responsibility, including final cleaning, placement of furniture, and turning on heating or cooling and lighting.
2. Set up for all funerals, weddings, and wedding rehearsals.
3. Keep boiler room, custodial closets, and storage areas orderly, supplied, clean, and safe.
4. Order cleaning supplies and equipment
5. Meet quarterly with the Property Ministry Team and provide regular reports on issues and possible improvements around the property and building.
Requirements
1. Applicant should have at least a high school diploma, the ability to work in the United States.
2. Basic mechanical knowledge; understanding of heating / cooling / boiler systems.
3. Must be able to stand, climb stairs, regular physical labor typical for custodial work; lift up to
40 lbs. manually and/or with use of equipment.
4. All applicants will undergo criminal background checks.
RELATIONSHIPS
The Building Manager is responsible to the Session of Boulevard Presbyterian Church through the Personnel Committee and Head of Staff, while also serving and working closely with the Property Committee and the Preschool. It is expected that the Building Manager will maintain a positive working relationship with all the members of the professional, support, and lay staff.
SCHEDULE
It is estimated that this position will typically require 25-30 hours per week and will be paid at an hourly rate commensurate with experience.
SPIRITUAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
As a member of the Boulevard Presbyterian Church staff, it is expected that the Building Manager will participate in regular staff meetings.
