GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR 

Bouldering Project’s mission is to foster meaningful human connection with the most inspiring and inclusive climbing, movement, and community spaces. We care deeply about humans. We create joyful places and pathways for climbing, fitness, yoga, and social experiences that inspire people to challenge themselves and engage in a lifestyle centered around health, friendship, and purpose. Instructors at DC Bouldering Project bring people together from every walk of life, to create community and hold space for students of every level. Our instructors inspire students to push themselves beyond what they believed possible. DCBP Fitness Instructors are creative, organized, experienced, and care deeply about the bonds formed in the classroom. Instructors will carry a nationally- recognized certification in Fitness. They will create their own sequences and playlists for classes in a variety of determined formats, within their own scope of practice. Please note, this position is for Fitness instructors only, we are not looking to hire Yoga instructors at this time.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sequencing and building thoughtful fitness classes within a given format, that can be easily tiered to multiple experience levels
  • Curating the studio space for each class; equipment, lighting, music and mood
  • Arriving prior to class start time to engage students and foster community
  • Leaving the studio space organized and tidy after your class
  • Clear and timely communication with Yoga & Fitness manager
  • Finding substitutes within DCBP Instructor pool for your scheduled classes, when needed
  • Instructors are responsible for submitting time entries on time to the Yoga & Fitness manager
  • Beyond the physical, all classes are curated to Inspire, Engage, Entertain, Educate and Build Community
  • Holding space respectfully for all students, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, national origin, citizenship status, disability, veteran status, status with regard to public assistance, membership or activity in a local commission, or because of any other characteristic protected by applicable laws
REQUIREMENTS
  • National Certification in Group Fitness or Personal Training, with in-studio group-fitness experience
  • 1 Year in-studio instruction experience
  • Must carry Liability Insurance
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Enjoys teaching a variety of formats to a variety of experience levels
  • Curious, self-driven and has the forever-student mindset
  • Highly personable and even higher energy
  • The love of community- building and growth
