Climbing coaches at Bouldering Project have a pivotal role in building and driving the continued growth of climbing teams. They provide excellent customer service, engagement, and connection as they introduce people to and support them on their lifelong journey with climbing in a way that is healthy, sustainable, fulfilling, and fun. This role involves facilitating weekly practices designed to support recreational and competitive adult climbers in their development as athletes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Work with the programs manager and other coaching staff to design, develop, and implement an adult climbing team program for climbers of varying skill levels, with weekly practices and mock competitions as appropriate.
• Provide expert instruction in climbing techniques, safety practices, and training methodologies to individuals and groups.
• Provide personalized coaching and feedback to each climber to help them overcome challenges, improve weaknesses, and achieve their climbing goals.
• Actively respond to customer needs, membership and event questions, inquiries, and feedback.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Available to work evenings and weekends.
• Technical proficiency in climbing.
• Possess a high level of athletic empathy.
• Previous experience as a climbing coach is preferred.
• First AID/CPR certification preferred.

• Ensure the safety of participants, staff and other customers through group organization, oversight, and control.
• Actively promote risk mitigation through ongoing instruction and orientation.
• Respond to accidents and incidents following the BP Safety Manual and Protocol and properly document any incidents through the incident report log.

• This is an hourly, part-time position. Hourly rate DOE.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Many duties require the availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including possible evenings and weekends. Some travel may be required for competitions.
