Position Title: Technician-Media

Position Start Date: August 14, 2024

Position Type: Non-Represented

FTE: 0.875 - 35 hours per week - Regular, ongoing

Work Schedule: 190 Days

Pay Range:*$21.66 - $30.67

Closing Date: May 15, 2024

Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day operations of the library primarily related to technology support, library media and equipment, and the supervision of students in the library space.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all library equipment, including Makerspace equipment and the laminator.
  • Troubleshoot tech questions related to library equipment (including Makerspace equipment), library digital resources, and access issues involving student passwords.
  • Clean keyboards and high touch areas in the library at the end of high traffic periods and/or the end of each day.
  • Assist with circulation duties (checking books out and checking books in).Assist with covering books and preparing media for circulation.
  • Organize and clean equipment storage areas and Makerspace.
  • Perform inventory of all library holdings.
  • Assists with weeding and preparing materials to be sent to the district warehouse.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus specialized technical courses in business or vocational school pertinent to the position.
  • Minimum of one year experience in technology and/or supervising youth.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent, preferably in Information Literacy or related field
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Flexible in work procedures and processes from assignment to assignment
  • Skill in performing a variety of complicated tasks, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, with minimal supervision; versed in technical concepts and procedures
  • Skill in instructing users on new or upgraded equipment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Skill in organizing work, setting priorities and time management
  • Excellent customer service skills

Salary Information:

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

*Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule). BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education.
