Boulder Valley School District is Hiring an Electronic technician Near Boulder, CO

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrical Repair Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, programming, and repairing technical electrical equipment and controls for the district.

Keeping updated logs, records, files, and maps of all completed work.

Responsibilities :

  • Keeps up on laws and regulations affecting fire alarm codes and installation according to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Inspects, maintains, and installs emergency and exit lights; intercom systems; clocks, bells, and room clocks; scoreboards;
  • security systems including intrusion, card access, cameras, video intercom and interconnects to MAS notification, first responder interoperability equipment, fire systems, HVAC controls, network based communications for fire systems;

door hardware including ADA compliant equipment; all sound systems; and fire alarm systems.

  • Responds to after-hour call-outs for security and fire alarm malfunctions.
  • Specifies replacement parts and devices for fire alarms, exit signs, emergency lights, scoreboards, clocks, and sound systems according to Industry standards.
  • Performs monthly elevator safety inspections.
  • Coordinates work performed by outside contractors.
  • Assists less experienced workers on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Maintains logs, records, files, maps, and correspondence between various departments, contractors, and other authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Works closely with local police departments, fire departments, and state authorities to repair malfunctions.
  • Coordinates problem resolution with schools, district staff, and outside contractors.
  • Documents work performed on work orders defining problem and solution. Enters time and Work Order numbers accurately in District designated systems. on time cards.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance (PM) on facilities, systems, and equipment for maintenance and safety issues, makes repairs as required, or provides recommendations to the District for correction.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs circuit boards.
  • Provides input for technical specifications for the district on all low voltage systems.
  • Respond as essential personnel in case of an emergency, weather or environmental event, and / or school / facility / district closure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus specialized advanced courses in business, technical, or vocational school up to two years of college.
  • Minimum of four years experience in low-voltage systems, including fire alarm systems, intercom systems, bell systems, clock systems, camera and security, access control, scoreboards, sound systems, and theatrical lighting and sound.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs, occasional dual-lifts of up to 100 lbs; frequent movement of heavy loads.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • NICET Level I; must acquire within 1 year
  • Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application.

Preferred :

  • K - 12 experience
  • Colorado Journeyman Electrician License
  • Knowledge of electronic testing multimeters, basic hand and power tools; tone generator; and fire alarm testing equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of the operation, minor maintenance, and repair of less complex audio-visual equipment.
  • Must be able to use complex testing equipment, including signal generator, watt meter, frequency counter, volt-ohm meter, milliamp meter, etc.
  • Must have good working knowledge of the National Electric Code, National Fire Alarm Code, Uniform Fire Code and National Fire Protection Agency Code.

Salary Information :

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).

BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process. This information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position.

The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience and education. All salaries are set by Human Resources based on a review of qualifications compared to the requirements on the job description;
