Summary:

Horizons K-8 School, located in south Boulder, has a rich history of academic excellence. Position Description: This is a half-time Artist in Residence position (0.5 FTE) at Horizons K-8, starting in the 2024- 2025 school year.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, guide and deliver instruction, using state and Horizons K-8 standards 
• Effectively manage the learning environment
•  Understand, appreciate, and be responsive to student diversity
•  Participate in other school-based activities and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

Required: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, with valid and current state teaching license, and highly qualified content knowledge. Substitute license accepted. License can be applied for or in process. 
• Enthusiasm to help K-8 students learn and explore the subject of Art 
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills 

Preferred: 

• Two or more years of art teaching experience in a K-8 environment 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience integrating multicultural issues and diverse perspectives in instruction
• Dedication to high standards of excellence and the success of all students; ability to build relationships and personalize instruction for students so that all are challenged to learn
• Technologically literate, Google applications savvy and motivated to use technology to enhance learning
