Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our team! This position is full-time working 40 hours per week Monday through Friday and is benefit eligible. Additional perks this position will enjoy are evenings, weekends, and major holidays off. As the Purchasing Assistant you are responsible for the acquisition, storage and inventory control of medical and office supplies in accordance with department protocols. The Purchasing Assistant also performs instrument sterilization according to established protocols, enters pertinent information into the computer in a timely fashion and assists in all aspects of document management with regard to BMC’s company forms. The ideal candidate for this position will have exceptional attention to detail, past experience ordering supplies, and the ability to lift and / or move supply orders. Job Duties:

  • Understands BMC’s budget process as it relates to the accurate input of data and information into BMC’s Purchasing system.
  • Verifies all general and non-capital department orders. Determines non-capital and minor equipment requests when not designated by department. Contacts supervisor to obtain authorization to order.
  • Works with supervisor to decrease the number of returns and restocking fees.
  • In cooperation with other department team members is accountable for:
    • Maintaining database of supplies. Verifies all items (Manufacturer, Manufacturer’s part number and unit of measure) and inputs new information.
    • Preparing purchase orders. Creating new stock and non-stock items when necessary. Determining correct vendor based on price and availability.
    • Receiving incoming shipments; unpacks and examines contents for proper quantity and quality; labels appropriate items with MSDS labels; matches packing slip with purchase order; recording departments distribution based on purchase order; delivering items to appropriate area; assisting in date entry of shipping receipts into Purchasing department computer.
    • Sorting and distributing incoming mail and incoming packages.
    • Reviewing invoices and packing slips for accuracy. Comparing pricing on invoice to computer database. Maintains knowledge of product and packing to establish correct pricing. Approves invoices for payment. Has knowledge of BMC accounting functions and works within established guidelines. Inputs correct price changes into the database.
    • Processing storeroom transfers by receiving in departmental requisitions: fills order and delivers supplies to requisitioning department and enters all items into the computer sold out of stockroom.
    • Assisting with forms management of all versions of departmental MS Word software. Creates, corrects and prints forms as needed.
    • Sterilizing instruments using the autoclave. Properly uses autoclave according to sterilization procedures to include cleaning, testing efficacy and keeping log. Ensures that the lab area remains clean. Maintains sterilization records according to Boulder Medical Center, P.C. polices.
  • Operates copy machines; monitors and replenishes printed inventory levels upon need; processes (i.e., collate, cut, staple, etc.) printed forms; fills department print orders and distributes finished forms.
  • Assists in keeping stockroom organized and maintains inventory control.
  • Performs miscellaneous errands for the clinic.
Required Experience:


Skills and Abilities:

  • Motor coordination, manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.
  • Ability to read, write and follow simple written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items. Aptitude for detail. Courteous.

Education:

  • High School/GED. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Previous Experience:

  • 1 year experience driving a vehicle required. Shipping and Receiving experience preferred.

Salary Range:

  • $16.54 to $21.50/hour; depending on experience
