Boulder County Public Works Department is seeking to hire a Traffic Engineering Technician, which is the lead/specialist level classification in the Engineering Technician series. They perform complex and specialized paraprofessional and technical engineering duties in addition to construction inspection-related (field) work. They focus on projects and programs benefitting public interest and the community associated with Boulder County’s Public Works and traffic projects while providing the best in public service. They apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the areas of traffic, pedestrian and multi-modal facilities, guardrail, striping, signing water quality, and constructability. Public Works’ staff enjoy flexible working hours and hybrid work locations that include in-office and at-home.
This is a full-time, benefited position.This position will work a hybrid schedule between the hours of 8am-4:30pm. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be remote and Tuesday & Thursday will work out of 2525 13th St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $70,320 - $85,794 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 2 years of college coursework in transportation (i.e., roads, bridges, intersections), or related field and 3 years of paraprofessional work experience with emphasis in traffic. Additional related education may count towards required experience.
