Description

Boulder County Assessor's Office is seeking to hire two Program Specialist I positions The Program Specialist I is the entry-level classification in the Program Specialist series.

The Program Specialist I perform a variety of professional duties within established guidelines working on Senior and Veteran Exemption Programs, Appeals processing and other assigned projects.

This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday-Thursday 7 : 00am -5 : 30pm. This position will work remotely and out of 1325 Pearl St.

in Boulder, CO. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range : $49,956.00 - $60,996.00 annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline :

  • Phone Screening : March 11th
  • First Round Interviews : March 18th
  • Second Round Interviews : March 25th
  • Reference Check : March 25th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides information to property owners, businesses, and other governmental entities in person, by phone or e-mail. Utilizes various online services, software packages, and other resources to research and communicate appropriate information.
  • Assists in the implementation of exemption programs.
  • Processes senior and disabled veteran property tax exemption applications. Enters information into Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) software for qualified applicants and maintains appropriate property record data.

Monitors sales of properties with exemptions.

  • Communicates via written, phone and email with seniors and disabled veterans program applicants in support of the exemption programs.
  • Maintains and updates procedures.
  • Scans documents into County imaging system.
  • Works with other Assessment Technicians to organize workload related to the Assessor level appeal process. This may include but is not limited to the acceptance, scanning, scheduling, and logging of appeals into CAMA software.

May also supervise temporary staff in completion of related duties.

  • Supports the workload related to County Board of Equalization appeals and enters notes and determinations into CAMA system.
  • Processes Abatements, Arbitrations and State level appeals. Works with the Treasurer staff, County Commissioner's staff, Clerk to the Board, and County Attorney staff to ensure appropriate and timely administration of higher-level appeals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be reassigned in emergency situations.

Vacation and Medical leave are based off of full time FTE accruals. Part-time FTE / term employees accrue leave based on the percentage of time they work.
