GENERAL PURPOSE: The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for will exhibit quality processing to all inpatient records while maintaining acceptable levels of productivity with a minimum amount of backlog. Chart scanning and indexing functions to all inpatient, special procedures, outpatient radiology and ED records, Analyze and assemble records, assist physicians and staff in chart completion processes, record and remove deficiencies, generate transcribed reports, file loose reports, complete query/code assist functions, fax to external requestors, and release of information, assist Coordinator of HIM in various clerical functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Position requires bending at waist, standing and sitting in order to retrieve, file, compile, copy and mail records/reports. Must have knowledge of medical terminology and good communication skills to deal with the public and hospital physicians/staff.
Must demonstrate computer skills to perform job duties.
