Boston Valley Terra Cotta is Hiring an Extrusion Operator Near Orchard, NY
Role Description
We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated full time on-site Extrusion Operator at Boston Valley Terra Cotta in Orchard Park, NY. As an Extrusion Operator, the candidate will be responsible for performing various day-to-day tasks related to the production and manufacturing of architectural terra cotta products. Your primary duty will involve overseeing the extrusion process to produce terra cotta into specific shapes and profiles. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient and accurate production of extruded products while maintaining quality standards and adhering to safety protocols.
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday: 7:00AM-3:30PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare extrusion machinery according to production specifications, including adjusting machine settings, dies, and feed rates.
- Operate extrusion equipment to feed raw materials into the extruder, heat and melt them, and shape them through a die to produce the desired product profile.
- Monitor the extrusion process, including temperature, pressure, and speed controls, to ensure proper operation and product quality.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain product specifications and troubleshoot issues such as material jams, die clogs, or dimensional variations.
- Conduct quality checks on extruded products, including measurements, visual inspections, and testing for defects or inconsistencies.
- Follow safety regulations and company policies regarding the operation of extrusion machinery, including proper handling of materials, use of personal protective equipment, and safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, machine settings, maintenance activities, and quality inspections to track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical labor and lift heavy objects.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Knowledge of and experience with power tools and machinery
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a team environment.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to work on-site in Orchard Park, NY
- Experience with architectural terra cotta or construction materials is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.00 per week
