The Amyloidosis Center at Boston University (BU) Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is an internationally recognized leader in the study of amyloidosis and unique in its approach of combining laboratory and clinical research to support exceptional care for patients with all forms of systemic amyloidosis. It has an integrated team of multidisciplinary researchers and clinician scientists whose mission is to understand, treat and ultimately cure amyloid diseases.
The Amyloidosis Center Gerry Laboratory at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is looking for a full-time Senior Research Specialist with previous research experience in studying amyloidosis. The position will be responsible for (i) independent design and execution of in-vitro experiments with amyloidogenic recombinant proteins aiming to elucidate structural features of precursor proteins in AL and ATTR systemic amyloidosis by utilizing various methods focusing on biophysical and cell biology techniques; (ii) independent results interpretation and manuscripts preparation; (iii) direct participation in collaborative studies with members of the Amyloidosis Center, external academia researchers and industry collaborators; (iv) production of various amyloidogenic recombinant proteins for in-vitro experiments with the focus of the immunoglobulin light chain and transthyretin proteins; (v) direct mentoring of Amyloid Laboratory trainees (undergraduate, graduate and PhD students, summer interns) (vi) providing expertise and training to Amyloid Laboratory technical staff in recombinant proteins production and cell culture techniques.
