SUMMARY: The Instructional Coach in conjunction with the administration, is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing mastery-oriented feedback to teachers (based on the BRCPS Coaching Handbook and student-centered coaching practices). Coaches are expected to support the instructional development of all teachers, which means they are generalists who will work with teachers in a variety of subject areas. While coaches may bring a particular subject-area expertise, their focus is on improving instructional quality across all subject areas in a way that highlights and drives forward schoolwide priority goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Support BRCPS Coaching Vision Statement and Purpose as outlined by the BRCPS Coaching Handbook.Introduce best practices in the content areas through demonstration lessons, co-teaching, co-planning, peer observation, live coaching, professional development workshops, and individual teacher meetingsPlan and implement professional development based on identified needsModel effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques for instructional staffProvide mastery-oriented, student-centered, non evaluative written and oral feedback to instructional staffWork with teachers to ensure that the schools current instructional programs are implemented to meet all students needsAssist teachers with data analysis and data use to differentiate instruction in order to provide equitable and inclusive instruction to all learners, with a specific emphasis on minimizing achievement gaps and lowest performing subgroups of students.Assist instructional staff in preparing lesson plans with objectives aligned with Common Core State Standards and Universal Design for Learning practicesCollaborate with leadership to plan and organize New Teacher Orientation and August Professional Development for all staff Collaborate with the Literacy, and Math & Science Curriculum Coordinators and school directors to best support instructional goals and priority areas Additional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipendQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (Required) Masters Degree (Strongly Preferred)Three or more years of successful teaching and working in an urban public school Deep knowledge of the Common Core State StandardsExperience working in an urban setting, and with diverse student populations, preferredExperience with standards-based assessment and effective use of student dataDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers and possess communication skills of listening, oral communication and oral presentationExperience providing professional development for teachers, and strong organizational skillsREQUIRED LICENSE(S)/MTELs: DESE License: Elementary 1-6 and SEI Endorsement. OrPassing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL), this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
