Position: Registered Nurse, OB Float Pool

Department: OB Float Pool

Schedule: 36 Hours, Day/Night rotation, with Rotating Weekends)

ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/OBSTRETICS FLOAT POOL DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

Registered Nurses in the Obstetrics' Float Pool float between Labor and Delivery (LDR Unit), Post Partum and the Newborn Nursery. As a Magnet recognized organization, our float pool nurses use their wide breadth of obstetric nursing knowledge to easily float between units and provide the highest quality of care.

POSITION SUMMARY:
As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients

  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families

  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues

  • Update and manage patient records

  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information

  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization

  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • 1 years of RN experience preferred

  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life support ( ACLS) certification required in certain units

  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Fluency in another language a plus
